http://tachyondecay.net/php/bin/serverstatus.php - server status page The Ip address has changed for server 4 so all forums with a domain won't work till they change their settings and wait for the changes to take affect. Edited by Bluezone777, Dec 27 2011, 10:10 AM.

When will it be safe to use the custom domain again? I've lost a lot of posts due to having no warning whatsoever about this. A little message in the ACP woulda been nice. |

well, you've just lost a active forum, if what Im understanding is correct, you changed domain settings with no warning... the guy who registered our .co.cc domain wont be back for 3 months... meaning, we can't use our forum. =/ easier to move than to work this mess out. |

It's for a technical reason that domain IPs changed. You want upgraded servers? IPs change. We have always recommended using CNAME and not A-records for domains to avoid this exact issue. It's unfortunate that you won't be able to change your A-record to to the new server IP, but by no means our fault. You can always revert to the default ZetaBoards URL and/or register a new .co.cc domain and bulk email your members from your Admin CP. |

I run forum for my in game group. the co.cc was setup how the ZB DOCS said to so dont go blaming it on me. They've been pushing me just to get self hosting, which I see has to complicated, but tbh, I have MyBB and IPB websites open in my tab... Edited by N00b.-ZNS, Dec 27 2011, 11:29 AM.

Unfortunately, .co.cc domains are restrictive in their nature so the documentation outlines the best way to set it up for minimal complication and frustration. That, too, is why we also recommend the use of GoDaddy and purchased domain names. I think it's a lot cheaper to purchase a domain and set up records appropriately than to go with a self-hosting option, and we would be sorry to see you leave, but the fact of the matter is that server IPs changing was unavoidable. In order to improve the service, then change had to be made. And in several topics after the change the new server IP addresses were mentioned for users that did determine it best to use A-records (A-records have some pros, but obviously one major con). |

To be honest, I think that some warning should've been given as not everyone fully understand how things like this works |

I don't run the show here. I'm a volunteer and a community member and a board owner - just like you, in many ways. When I first heard about the server changes one of my first questions was about whether Server IPs would change - because I use A-records on my domain. On the evening of the S11 change it was discovered by myself and the community at large that IPs would be changing. The old IPs worked, but in a limited capacity, and changing was recommended at that time. It has been about two weeks since all servers (and thus all server IPs) changed. There have obviously been interim things in place which kept domains pointed to the old server IPs working properly. It now appears that those measures may have faltered (though I very much doubt they have been disabled, as notice would have been given). But two weeks of opportunity was there for anybody who frequents the support board, such as yourself, to make the changes. I don't have the ability to post announcements to Admin CPs etc. So, unfortunately, the only way for people to know would have been to be following the topics on support. I am always in support of more communications with the users of our service. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my pay-grade (which as I've indicated, amounts to nil ), that sometimes doesn't happen.

Im not internet smart, thats why I'm using a free forum host, all I know is my fleet's forum is down on a battle day, which takes place in about 10 hours. if the forum is not up, we will loose. this is why Im pissed, and I have a right to. I did not see anything on my ACP warning me to change domains... |

Jimmy, As I've indicated your board technically is not down. If your have the default ZetaBoards URL you can log in to your forum's Admin CP and make the ZetaBoards URL the default URL again. Then you can mass-email your members the ZB URL and you'll all have access to the board while Brandon works on the problems. |

Not possible, most users dont check their email, plus trying to give 75 users a new link in the in game chat, which doesnt support links or copy and paste, will result in problems, espiacly with s4.zetaboards.com/blablabla |
