Board Address: http://themarioforums.com Board Software: ZB Description: I'd like a code which I can use to block swearing, but I want it to be optional. I want members to be able to switch it on and off in the UserCP. It is (apparently) possible with other hosts, and I'd find this useful for the younger users on my board. I found some filter codes but can't find any that are optional for each member. Help? Edited by hissae2-ZNR, Dec 28 2011, 12:13 PM.

Put this in Javscripts. Replace word1, word2, word3, word4 with your words. You can also add more words by adding another comma and adding another word in quotes. I have this disabled in IE6 because it seems like board performance was really low with it. My IE6 is very finicky though. The usage rate on IE6 is low enough now that it shouldn't make a difference whether its enabled or disabled. swearReplacer is the thing swears will be replaced with. I have it so all words are replaced with the same thing. If you want that changed, let me know. This only censors words inside of posts. Topic titles, signatures, and shoutbox shouts will not be censored. And of course, let me know if you have any problems. It was a quick writeup so there's bound to be bugs.

I was hoping for something that members could switch on and off in their profile. This code doesn't do that, does it? So that some members are able to see the words but those that don't want to don't have to. Edited by hissae2-ZNR, Dec 28 2011, 11:41 PM.

That is exactly what it does. It adds an option on the "Board Settings" page under Preferences -> Update Profile to enable or disable the word filter. |

It works! Thank you so much, I wasn't expecting to actually get a response from this.

Updated with a fix - my JS is a bit rusty! Thought using .replace with a string would automatically be global :p. |
