Border break with Firefox.

Posted Image

This problem occurs when a thread is very long. It does not happen with Chrome or IE.

It didn't used to happen with Firefox until a recent upgrade. I fixed it then by changing "repeat-y top left" to "repeat-y left center" and the same for the right border.

After the latest upgrade of Firefox No combination works. Any combination works with Chrome and IE.

This isn't just happening on this one theme but all themes using this type of borders.

(#borderL {
background: url(http://z3.ifrm.com/230/145/0/p382728/l.jpg) repeat-y top left;)

(#borderR {
background: url(http://z3.ifrm.com/230/145/0/p382729/r.jpg) repeat-y top right #668466;)

Anyone know of a fix for this besides not using Firefox? :)

Do you have a link to the board? A screenshot and CSS of backgrounds aren't very helpful.

As for what your problem is, I wouldn't be so sure your problem is Firefox. Gecko (Firefox) is usually more standards-compliant than Webkit (Chrome & Safari), and Trident (IE) is trash.

I made a test board to demonstrate the problem. No codes or anything. I picked a theme from the Zathyus Networks Resources board.

I posted the CSS on a thread and then "replied" to that thread with the same CSS in order to make a long thread. The link to the test board is http://w11.zetaboards.com/BorderBreakTest/index/. Click on "Border Break Test" in the "General Discussion" forum to see tha problem. Scroll up and down and you should see that the boarders are broken in Firefox (At least in the latest version of firefox.)

There is no break in Chrome or IE.

I'm getting that on the latest beta version of FireFox, is that what you're talking about? It happens at frequent intervals down the page.

Hmm, it does look like an issue with Firefox. Can't see anything wrong with the code and it works fine in Chrome. Firefox can't seem to handle the height of the div, I tried using a larger background repeating image to see if that made any difference and it did not.

If it is working in the Fx11b then it's probs fairly safe to assume it will be in the final version.

A standard user wouldn't normally have pages that long anyway, if you're posting CSS, use the the [code] tags. This encases the code in a div with a fixed height and a vertical scrollbar.

I downloaded Firefox 11b and its still broken. The only difference being that it doesn't always show the breaks the same way. You can open the link three times and see three different variations of the break. Maybe I should get someone from Firefox to look at this topic. ;)
