But you did say the word didn't exist and we can clearly see that it does. |

Actually he said that "antireligion" does not exist, he did not say that "anti-religion" does not exist. I also believe that Atheists are in now way religious, for that Faith would need to be required. |

It's the same word hyphenated. It is common practice to use a hyphen after a prefix if the root word is more than one syllable. My point remains the same: atheism is being confused with anti-religion. |

Actually, from the Wikipedia link you so graciously provided, anti-religion means the active and sometimes militant denial of religion. Most atheists aren't religious, but couldn't give less of a crap what you believe in. That's not anti-religion. I lament the fact that you've wasted half this topic discussing a technical point that doesn't even matter. We are not discussing the meaning of the word "Atheist" in this debate, we are discussing whether Atheists are religious or not. |

You've "wasted" just as much of this topic as myself. You started by saying that atheists were not religious. The meaning of the word (atheist/atheism) is more than just a "technical point". If atheist did, in fact, mean "without religion" it would have been strong "evidence" in your favor. However, it means "without a God". As a result, an atheist can be religious.
Change of mind? |

Read the topic title. It says "Atheism is NOT a religion". Go ahead and try arguing against that. Hey, monotheism and polytheism aren't religions either. You admitted it before.
Thanks for cutting out the other half of my sentence. I meant to say "Atheists aren't religious, but most couldn't give less of a crap what you believe in." |

Atheism has been popularized to mean not believing in a religion, but as many have said, it just means not believing in god (monotheism, polytheism...). I can make up a religion worshipping Britney Spears, claiming her to be a model but not a goddess, and this would be an atheistic religion. Atheism isn't ONE single religion; it is the description or characteristic for a religion, just like monotheism and polytheism. |
