Have you configured your BIOS to boot from a CD?

Have you configured your BIOS to boot from a CD?

Thats most likely the problem. You need to go into your BIOS and change the boot order so that your computer boots from the CD drive before the hard drive.

Yep, you will need to configure your BIOS to boot from a CD when you turn on your computer. Depending on your computer, you might see somthing like "Press F12 to change the boot order" when your computer first turns on.

I've done that. It loads into ubuntu. But nautilus can't be opened it says. So my next question, how do I install Linux on my second harddrive and switch between Windows and Linux

A live CD doesn't use any diskspace. It boots directly from the CD drive.

Okay now this is really pissing me off. I run Ubuntu from the boot loader and it goes to this black screen with white text. It wants me to login so i do.

Then it just goes to a line like this:

matt@ubuntu:$'

What do I type, have I done something wrong. Please help.
