Thats most likely the problem. You need to go into your BIOS and change the boot order so that your computer boots from the CD drive before the hard drive. |

Yep, you will need to configure your BIOS to boot from a CD when you turn on your computer. Depending on your computer, you might see somthing like "Press F12 to change the boot order" when your computer first turns on. |

I've done that. It loads into ubuntu. But nautilus can't be opened it says. So my next question, how do I install Linux on my second harddrive and switch between Windows and Linux |

sorry to hyjack but i've got this problem, i've got 2 IDE drives (once with windows the other with stuff) i've found a old one that i want to transfer all the stuff from the old one to the one with stuff (its to big to put on the one with the OS) so im thinking i might just put the old one in and the one with stuff, and try use the ubuntu live cd, any idea if this will work? |

A live CD doesn't use any diskspace. It boots directly from the CD drive. |

Okay now this is really pissing me off. I run Ubuntu from the boot loader and it goes to this black screen with white text. It wants me to login so i do. Then it just goes to a line like this: matt@ubuntu:$' What do I type, have I done something wrong. Please help. |
