I'm trying to learn coding and all that stuff. So could someone tell what I should study first; HTML, PHP or XML? And where can I find tutorials on all those things? |

That would be XHTML. (Honest typo, the z and x keys are right next to each other.)I agree, XHTML (takes the place of HTML), then PHP and MySQL, and I would even add a couple. Javascript and CSS. There are a lot of languages you need to know if you want to be the ideal web designer. One of the best places to learn about all of these is right here. An even better PHP/MySQL source would be here. Enjoy.

HTML, Java (gives you some precursor into JavaScript), JavaScript, CSS. |

Actually, Java is much more powerful and complex than Javascript. (And quite seperate, they are two different languages entirely. Not sure how it would be a precursor into JS.) It is up there with C and C++. I'd suggest Javascript, XHTML, and the "basics" first. Then move on to PHP, C++, Java, and other more powerful languages. JMO though, seeing as it would make sense to go easy --> hard, rather than the other way around. |

It's actually called XHTML. You can find it here. By the way, what do I need to know in order to code the CSS? |

It depends what you want to be; a programmer or a scripter, for scripting learn somthing like Javascript, but from programming C++ |

Don't listen to myr, he's unrealistic. Learn XHTML first and foremost. after that go for some CSS, both of which are pretty basic and its good to toy around with because it teaches you some vital skills to survive in the internet world. |

My apologies, it was a typo of XHTML :sigh: @llikitlum: How is what I suggested 'unrealistic'? I realize I forgot to include CSS in there, but that seems like one of the best places to start for web design. You ahve your HTML, CSS, and a coding language with a database (both of which that I chose are highly popular). |

xHTML --> PHP/mySQL (They interlink because MySQL is simple for most peoples uses) I've not learnt anything else, but I'll learn Javascript and AJAX sometime... (I class CSS as HTML, because it's so simple, other than when I get stuck I jsut search Google :P). |

I agree with Keith, xHTML and CSS should be first to learn then followed by PHP & MySQL to get a programing and database language down. Once those are completed I would start working with JavaScript. |

Because you don't just jump into learning PHP unless your looking for a rough time. Learn and KNOW xHTML and CSS, then if you want to program, get into php/sql |

This was my learning.. road if you like: -HTML -CSS -XHTML -XML -PHP (My Favorite!!) -C# -C++ It seamed to work for me, but may not be the best route. Again, it all depends on what you want to code and/or program. Good Luck, its a hard but fun path to follow

Nowadays, I would learn XHTML in place of HTML and skip HTML completely, much better to learn early on, because eventually XHTML will power all webpages, and it powers a lot of them now. Other than that your route was pretty solid. |
