Board Address: Private (Is this alright?) Board Software: Zetaboards Description: Essentially, I would like to have a script that can change a username across the board[1] -- especially in the threads. I did find this script posted here[2], but I found that it doesn't meet the aforementioned criterion. [1] It's for a roleplaying setting wherein we have individual peerage titles, but we also want group affiliation for certain organizations within the RP. Changing ones username will change it across the board. I can make a code that would create a sort of BBCode that would change the username of the poster, so it would look different. something like `[alias]Bob[/alias]` |

Hey Quozzo, I like your work ! I'm sorry for my belated response : /Anyways, that would make sense if my group of people didn't want to have coronets in their username in the c_username area for their respected peerage rank within the roleplay setting. -- if that makes any sense. Now, a solution I thought of which I dismissed as impractical was to make a group for the groups I mentioned above -- group A for the sake of ease -- along with having combination groups that uses the stuff from group A along with the peerage stuff[1]. The reason being as because it would create way too many groups since the titles I'm utilizing have two different gender forms along with having 20 possible ranks to begin with -- excluding the gender bit. Now, with your suggestion, will the proposal do the request, but be a case of the individual has to keep using the code in order for the requested thing to work? I was thinking that if they place the BBCode in the post it would only change their username for that post, or you could create a profile field where users can enter an alias which would only be shown in certain forums, or even multiple usernames using multiple profile fields for multiple forums which would be filtered by the name of the profile field. but its not feasible to edit a username board wise as it would require too many AJAX requests. |

The latter bit is what I was afraid that would be the case. Anyways, I was trying to discuss with the other people on my forum which would be the best route to go, and I believe your section option[1] would be the best option for the community. [1] The Profile Field Option |

I just use a Profile Field. Seems easier than adding code. Thats all I can suggest |

This request has gone a lengthy period of time without any new activity, therefore it is being marked as expired. This means that the request was typically too time-consuming or irritating for coders (who provide this service voluntarily in their free time) to complete. Thank you. |
