Brandon is aware of the problem with ZetaBoards search and, as far as I am concerned and aware, it is the top priority to be fixed at the moment. As a board owner myself, I can relate wholeheartedly with your frustrations but keep in mind that we only have one developer and (unfortunately) warding off (D)DoS attacks etc. is a reality and must take priority whenever these things pop up. We also had Server Maintenance and a hard drive failure. Keeping boards up and running in general will often detract from any work being done with fixing bugs. Your continued patience is appreciated. |

Most interesting to know it isn't just S7! Good to hear that, Nicolas. But all the more reason for us all to put our heads together and gather as much information as possible to make the job easier. It seems unlikely it is entirely a programming problem. Software bugs are very consistent, they don't show up at different dates on different servers unless there is something else triggering the failures. As a kind of interesting example, a program I developed for teachers suddenly bugged out at a nearby college after years of use. The program's window wouldn't open when a certain file was double clicked; it did show up on the taskbar and hovering over that showed the document nicely. Other document files opened fine and when the program itself was run directly. Got it figured out? It isn't entirely a programming problem. I went to the site and attempted to open the document on each of the computers where the file was used. It opened perfectly on the one that had two monitors, and it opened on the second monitor. I dragged it over to the first monitor and saved it - problem solved. The program stored the window size and location in the document and tried to open it in the same place. It just wasn't visible in the absence of the second monitor. The thing is, it was solvable by anyone, though I had an advantage being very familiar with the software. Heads up guys, it is a very serious problem to have a business wholly dependent on one person. My software business failed because large customers worried I might get sick or be killed in a car crash, ending the support for my software. All you folks working at Zeta should be trying to learn as much as you can about the board software. Pitting yourselves against a problem like this search thing is one of the best ways to learn. |

Zathyus has existed for 10 years. It's not going to suddenly fail. Additionally, support staff and community moderators are volunteers. We have no access to source code or servers. |

I wish good health and a long life to Brandon. And some spare time to figure out what went wrong with the search feature. Are we wasting our time trying various search scripts? It looks to me like these scripts are just commands to display a search button that in turn just calls the zeta search to get the results ... and it fails. |

For pity's sake, just use Google search and limit it to the invisionfree domain. I'm sure Brandon will fix this, but in the meantime we're not dead in the water unless we choose to be.

I would really appreciate an explanation of how to do that! It would be very useful if the search could be limited to one forum. Are there any invisible parts to a topic title that could be used in the search string to limit search to topics? Found an explanation of how to limit the search to a domain but it doesn't work for me. site:s7.zetaboards.com/Worldwide_Seniors/ "Tom Flanigan" Finds nothing at all. Site: s7.zetaboards.com "Tom Flanigan" Does not find what I'm looking for, namely http://s7.zetaboards.com/Worldwide_Seniors/topic/8789724/1/ Is this worth pursuing or are threads inaccessible to Google? You can use the site: search feature on Google to find threads that are visible to guests. Any threads that are in restricted areas of your board will not be found. While "Tom Flanigan" returns no results, just searching for "Tom" found several. https://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=Tom+site%3As7.zetaboards.com%2Fworldwide_seniors&oq=Tom+site%3As7.zetaboards.com%2Fworldwide_seniors |

Thank you very much, Nicolas! It is very helpful, though far from the zeta search we had until September. |

Big news - we got our search working again! A member reported getting a Malwarebytes warning on our main forum list page, for 213.163.65.6. I looked that up and found it hosts Picgifs.com and picturesanimations.com Sure enough, our main page forum names had emoticons fancying them up, and one of them was from picgifs.com. We removed all of the emoticons in those forum names (our table of contents no longer jiggles) last night and this morning search works right up to the present day. At the time our search failed, we were doing some reorganization of the forums and very likely that animated graphic was added at that time. If you have graphics on your main page, I recommend you check Section Manager and click edit on every section/forum with a graphic title to see if any of them link to pic gifts.com or pictures animations.com. Also, check the board template and every theme for a script with such links. Edited by Delphi51, Apr 6 2013, 11:33 AM.

Delphi51 - It's a coincidence I'm afraid. Search was restored by Brandon today. |

Yes. As has been acknowledged here, search on s6 and s10 still needs to be fixed. |
