Select your orb, then go to selection and choose expand, depending on the size of your orb you'll want to expand different amounts, since it is on your mt I would do 3 pixels. The make a gradient that starts off darker then whatever is behind the orb and gets lighter then whatever is behind the orb. Also, make sure this gradient is on a lyer behind the orb. |

Go to Bevel and Emboss, and do a Pillow Emboss. Play around with the settings and colors until you get what feels right. ![]() That’s to make them sunken. To make the look 3D, make a circle over the orb, which is about half its size. Zoom all the way down, find the hex color of the row of the bottom of the circle(not the circle itself, right next to it.). This will help the gradient flow. Now set your other color to white (ffffff) and lower the opacity to whatever you want.

Do you have Photoshop? I usually make a border, and blur the edges with the blur tool. You could also try the inner shadow tool, with a white shadow on normal mode..lower the spread or the size or the bottom one... |

just remember, when putting in a gradient, make the darker color on top for an inset orb, and the lighter color on top for an outset orb. |

I would follow Kman's tutorial on this, though I personally lower the opacity on the final layer. |
