Coder Posts: 14,667 Group: Members Member #44,593 Joined: February 12, 2005 I'm Browsing With Chrome	Code Name: Mention Notifications: Quote Edition What the code does: When you quote someone and submit the post, the user will be notified that they've been quoted via the top menu: Preview How to use the code: Create a new forum for the mentions to be deposited to: Admin CP Forum Sections Create Section Normal Forum Give all permissions to moderators and administrators, Upload isn't necessary however. Give Read and Start permissions to regular members. In the code, change FORUM_ID to the ID of the forum you just created. How to install the code: Admin CP Themes Board Template Below the Board Code: `<script type="text/javascript"> var notiForumIDVer = 'FORUM_ID'; </script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://z3.ifrm.com/63/1/0/p475021/Quote_Notifications.js"></script>` Extra notes: Requires two AJAX requests on every page, requires AJAX requests when you quote someone. Only the last 100 mentions will show for everyone. Flood control needs to be disabled for all groups in order to use this code.

Got it working instantly. Only 1 small issue that I can see. It still say's "Mentions 1" even after clicking on it and reading them. Anyway we can get it to go down after reading each post/quote? Also I have 2 questions/request Is there anyway to get it so the post's in the hidden forum doesn't show up in the latest post's in the portal or will I need to remove that area? Request, Is there anyway I could get -Wonder's Facebook Style Like/Dislike System v1.0 [CB] with this system? Be nice to get a notification when someone likes or dislikes your post. Or am I best trying to ask wonder? lucky all these go into 1 post lol. Right that issue we had with the other 1 where when quoting it takes awhile to post the post is still there. Coder Posts: 14,667 Group: Members Member #44,593 Joined: February 12, 2005 I'm Browsing With Chrome	I can probably make it decrement the count and the list item will be removed with cookies, but if someone clears their cookies then they will all re-appear and it won't decrease the 100 mentions limit seeing as the member would have to have the option to delete/trash the topic. Code: `<script type="text/javascript"> //<![CDATA[ $('#search_results_topics + table tr').each(function () { var forum = 'FORUM_NAME'; var text = $(this).find('td.c_cat-title:eq(1)').text(); if (forum === text) { $(this).remove(); } }); //]]> </script>` That will work for the Active Topics list (Change FORUM_NAME). I wouldn't be able to get it to work for the Latest Posts feature without the use of AJAX overload. I'll see what I can do about making a Like/Dislike version. For your third concern, I'm not sure what issue you're referring to.

AJAX can be a factor, for example I added this code to my test board and I refreshed the page with the Firebug console open and it said each $.get() request took 78 milliseconds to successfully load. 1000 milliseconds equals 1 second.

It seems like they aren't interacting with each well (when I tried to use this and the like/dislike edition it showed up us Mentions 0 0 Like/dislikes 0 0)

Just remember the more 'Mention Notification' codes you use, the more AJAX is parsed on every page. I may create an all-in-one version to limit this.

I used both like/dislike and quoting systems and it would be nice if users get notifications for them. However, unless they won't show up on the latest posts (which are very, very, very important to my site and thank you Cory for your code), I won't be able to use them.

All three versions of the notification codes won't list the topics on the Active Topics page, but they will appear on the Latest Posts feature on the portal. I'll see if I can fix this.
