Is there a code that can link usernames in posts? I know it works w/ the staff & my username, but with the members it doesn't. |

So you mean using a BBCode like [username=Cory] will create Cory? |

Yes. I got my username to work with the BBcode MEwarner but for some reason I can't get the actual members linked like that. I've tried the codes I thought could work with no luck. |

I don't think it's really practical unless you insert all the information manually in a code. |

Yeah I did but for some reason it's not working for the members, but my username is it's weird. I even tried to get it to work in the shout box too but couldn't. For the members name aren't you supposed to use the "Member" tag? or something else? |

Can I see the code you tried to use? There isn't a BBCode by default that links a username to their profile. |

it wasn't really a code per say it was a tag in the BBcode list it's the MEwarner tag which worked for my username name only..here... ![]() And here's the staff & members tags too in case: ![]() They are all in the BBcode list near the bottom there. |

The [me] tag is only meant to return the user that is using it. The [staff] tag is staff-only content, and the [member] tag is member-only content. The tags don't return user data. To determine a users profile link based on their username would require AJAX from the member list and AJAX requests from the member list are restricted. |

Not sure what you mean by 'link to sites'. The example I provided in my first post basically isn't possible for the aforementioned reasons. |

okay and what I meant was that I saw a post that you could link the usernames as sites instead of to the profiles, sorry I wasn't more clear on that that's all. I hope that's clears up what I meant. |

If you remember where you found that post and link me to it, I can likely better comprehend what you're trying to tell me. |

Hold on I think I can here's what I was talking about although it wasn't what I wanted, (because it links usernames to other pages) but just to give you an idea. Here's the link to that other code which has the usernames linked w/ sites instead their profiles instead: http://if.invisionfree.com/topic/5104254/1/#new (it's got the right idea for what I do) Edited by MEwarner, May 18 2013, 05:52 AM.

So basically you're requesting a manual version of the code that will allow you to use the [username=Cory] syntax? |
