Notes: Created in response to a request. I thought it would be fun to make a dragon theme. After working out a great background wallpaper composite, it seemed a shame to cover it all up with forum tables. So I kind of went wild with whole forum semi-transparencies throughout the theme. :tut: I'm also providing the choice of using only the tiling background image.

Browser Compatibility: Tested in latest FireFox, Chrome, and IE8. No known problems.

Editing Permissions: You may edit this theme as you like. however, for anything beyond normal customizations, offered options, and text size/color changes, you must add an "edited by" line to the copyright credits text. You may not change the existing copyright text or links.

how to add your "edited by" line

Graphics: Includes complete set of buttons and icons, plus banner PSD, emoticon base for Cheshire Emoticon System.

Please use these prehosted images:
Posted Image Theme Images page for There Be Dragons
DOWNLOAD banner PSD Font: Lazy Monk

Preview Graphics & Download: If you prefer to host your own images, see this topic to download a zip file of the images. (Some additional images such as InvisionFree buttons and team icons are available in the download.)

Theme Settings: Set the theme width limit to "No limit"
Replace the URL with your own banner image URL and replace the alt text with your board name:
Code:

<img src="http://z3.ifrm.com/28122/87/0/p484907/therebedragons.png" alt="There Be Dragons" />

Theme Appearance:
CSS

Theme Layout:

TO ELIMINATE THE WALLPAPER: Why would you want to do this? You might wish to eliminate the dragon image for a faster loading design, or create a second version for better mobile compatibility. (Or maybe you are skeered of fire-breathing dragons.. :shock: )

PREVIEW alternate background

To use only the red dragon scales tiled background (eliminating the dragon wallpaper), use the following CSS:

CSS for tile only background:
http://z3.ifrm.com/28122/87/0/p485521/TBDtiledBkgdCSS.css

You have the option to change the color of the dragon scales tile for this version if you wish. To use an alternate tile choice, replace the URL in the body background element with one of the following choices. RedScales is the default.
http://z3.ifrm.com/28122/87/0/p485309/RedScales.gif
http://z3.ifrm.com/28122/87/0/p485310/GreenScales.gif
http://z3.ifrm.com/28122/87/0/p485311/BronzeScales.gif (Previewed in the topic banner above.)

Code:

html,body {
background:url(http://z3.ifrm.com/28122/87/0/p485309/RedScales.gif) repeat fixed #1C1C1C;

To adjust ACP login screen for mobile viewing, you may add the code for the version you are using in this post: http://if.invisionfree.com/single/?p=18042221&t=5176036 to the bottom of your CSS.

You can add a background to the user drop menus. Find this in your CSS:

.drop_menu ul {

And add this line:
background: #000;

Like this:

Code:

.drop_menu ul {
background: #000;
-moz-opacity:0.85;
border-top:0px solid #C34705;
color:#fff;
left:-999em;
margin:0;
opacity:0.85;
position:absolute;
width:9.4em;
}

If that is not dark enough for you, you can remove the two opacity lines.

The ACP page is a bit of an issue because not all of it can be styled. I've noticed the issue you mention on any theme viewed on a mobile device (even themes specifically built for mobile). I will play around with that a bit later today and see if I can come up with a solution.

Ok thanks a lot for that Helena, it looks much better already.

Ok I understand, I do wonder though how the default theme can achieve it on a mobile device. I appreciate the effort anyway.

The reason is that the ACP login page has been highly reconfigured in order to display both the dragon wallpaper and the tiling scales image. The dragons theme was not intended to be used on a mobile device, so that wasn't a part of the planning.

The easiest solution for mobile use, would be to install the version without the wallpaper as a second theme choice, as the login page configuration was not modified in that version. It should work on mobile the same as for the default theme.

EDIT:

Optional: You may add the following to your theme CSS to fix the login screen for mobile devices with a resolution width of 1024 or less. Please use the version that matches your installation choice.

add to original dragon wallpaper theme CSS

add to alternate scales background version CSS

Ok thank you for that information. I decided to use the original ACP login page but I may go back to using the other one if the amazing pictures draw me back ;)

You might want to edit your OP so others don't have to trawl their way through these posts to find these solutions if they so want them.

I'm working out a way to have a mobile ACP login page just appear correctly for devices at 1024 screen resolutions and below. If I can get it right, I'll post it up.

EDIT:

In my post above are codes you can add to your CSS for either theme version that will fix the acp login screen for mobile viewing. The OP has been updated to offer the fix. (Adding the extra CSS code will not affect larger resolutions.)

I just came across this theme and it almost exactly what I am looking for.
You guys that code this stuff are more than fantastic. :)

This may be the wrong way to ask but, Helena, have you made any themes
that are based on this one? the reason I ask is that my site is Called GreycastleOz
and was looking for a theme that would reflect that. :)

It looks like you were able to make some edits of your own to get your castle background.

Looks good! :up:
