I joined January 26 looking for a skin.
I was inactive until sometime around May.
I started skinning and posting more in June.
-wait a year-
I entered the "review evaluation" without expecting to ever become staff because of it. Boy howdy, was I wrong. On July 23 (I think) I got a PM from Goe offering me a position on the review staff.

I joined the SZ on 20th December under the name of Ultimix, 03. I wasn't extremely active, and I was a bit of a n00b (or I thought I was). I got promoted to Elite on May 5th 04, and was then later promoted to Graphics Staff. I was graphics staff for over a year, when I became Graphics Manager on 25th December, 04. I later resigned and became elite once again on 27th July, 05.

Haha, I wrote my own biography.

Events leading to 1st May, 2004:

A bored teen had just been banned for the third time on ffx2.com. FFreak had become slow, and RPGFan was thinking of closing the forums. The boy's internet world was crashing down, just as he got his own computer. He needed some new forums. An aspiring writer, he googled "Writing forums" and became quickly obsessed with roleplaying. Random links, friend recommendation and web crawling brought him onto the invisionfree circuit, and the boy decided to make his own forum. Following the copyright at the bottom he was brought to Invisionfree.com and immediatley began work on UnNatural, a Buffy-esque roleplay giving the user creative freedom on their characters and featuring a unique registration and profile system, including character adverts. Loading up some custom graphics, and a green/silver skin made by CORT3Z he opened the roleplay to the public, and awaited feedback. He became quite known on the Invision-Roleplay forums, and the forum was a success. The era of independant roleplaying died, and with it, so did UnNatural. Harry Potter became all the rage, as did High School and town roleplays. Cold and bitter from the sudden change, and unwilling to convert to a restricted "canon" roleplay, he sought refuge on the forums he was already registered on. Invisionfree Skin Zone, IFSupport and IFStyles.

The Invision Switch:

Behind_Blue_Eyes, as I was known at the time, had become somewhat of a common name around IFStyles. Mattitude and I regularly posted in the forum games, but I never felt "at home". Graphics were quickly shot down, and skinning was out of the question. I couldn't take up something as hard as CSS? It was too much for a 13 year old to take in. So I posted around the community. Just as I was becoming more known, IFStyles was hacked. It restarted, but in my eyes was never the same. I left, and fled to IFSupport.

IFSupport, you must understand, was one of the biggest forums on invisionfree. Still is, I believe. I headed into the large forum, feeling lost, with only my mediocre graphics skills and basic knowledge on Invisionfree. I found myself asking more questions then helping out, and I feel I became somewhat of a bother to Nathan, lightsup and the others. I began skinning, seeing no other option of uniqueness.

Maintitle what?:

"This generator sucks." I remember saying. How can I skin without knowing the basics? Then it hit me. I stupid mistake I never should've done. Use other peoples bases, and just change the grads. It'd be unrecognizable, right? People loved the skins, but it got boring. I guess it kinda proves that skinning is more satisfying when you do it all on your own. Ripping has no point. I wish I'd learnt that at this stage in time.

I began touring forums. IFHelp, IFSupport, SZ, the newly restored IFStyles, iSkins, IFProductions and more under the username "Wolfsbane". Showcasing the tainted skins and getting WOW after WOW. The elated feeling wears off after a while, trust me. Skinning began to bore me, and I banished the CSS to the corners of my computer, focusing more on graphics.

Pixel text, downloads and scanlines, oh my!:

Late 2004. It was around September, and school had began eating away my time. Screw that, I was willing to sacrifice my grades. I was getting popular. People on the Skin Zone seemed to like my sigs, and I was getting better. But I'd been distracted by something I'd forgotten about. The community. Topic after topic, interesting debates and the infamous "What Are You Listening to?" thread. It was awesome. I could chat and make friends, and showcase my graphics all on the same forum. The Skin Zone.. well, rocked.I posted frequently in the "What Are You Listening to?" thread, mostly nu metal, and found a similar interest with a user named Duality. Phil asked me for my MSN, and I knew I'd found somewhere I could belong.

I quickly recruited friends, including Malory, Mr. Camo, R.A.N.G.E.R, Stary, Lothlómendil, the aformentioned Duality, now named Liberate, and Green Day Fan (Then named Killuh). Behind_Blue_Eyes was out, and I'd gotten Ryan (Newly promoted administrator) to change it to Slayer. The Invision world was my oyster, and my addiction to the internet and forums flowered.

Class of Skin Zone '04:

Heh, I'm feeling all nostalgic now. As I write this, I'm remembering all the old days. It was ALOT different from the Skin Zone we have today. I'm just going to throw out a few names, for all you oldies. Anyone remember Atticus? How about Magus, our very own Jeremy Privett? Phyrro, who changed his name a zillion times? How about MGV, Megalomaniac or .AF? Who could forget AgnosticAngel? I still remember her leaving topic, and when she was on skin team before switching to community. And how long did she have that eye as her avatar, anyway? =P

Forum Fever!:

I had an awesome Christmas. I began the new year with high spirits, and life was pretty smooth sailing. Grades were slipping slightly, but nothing I couldn't manage. I'd stopped studying a long time ago, made no sense to start now. Going outside had been reduced to pretty much going to the shops, or going to school. Whatever, I was happy. Then it hit.

One morning, Cody had contacted me on MSN. I'd been cracked by CJR. CJR were a group of crackers who utilized a password system which gave them your password upon registering at a forum. A few days before, RagingFuryBlack had asked me to register on his new board, which looked... well, half-complete. I realised why. Thanks alot, RFB. Dynamix PM'd me, warning me if I did "something like this" again I'd be banned forever. I said some things I shouldn't have. Hey, I was cracked and completely innocent, would YOU be angry? Short story even shorter, I was suspended. I started my own resource board, ForumEsque, using me horrible skinning ability I gained a few months previous, and began filling the galleries. During this time, I wandered various other resource boards, namely IFSkins. They'd been cracking boards and placing re-directs, and were growing steadily. I didn't care about the shady methods, and begn posting regularly. I wasted time until the date of unsuspension and woke up on a Saturday to find another bombshell.

The skins I had ripped (Used others as bases) had been found. I was stupid to post them on ForumEsque, but I needed to fill the skin gallery pretty quickly. Bad mistake. I was suspended again, this time until June. It was May, 2005. I lost faith and decided I'd never be able to come back to the Skin Zone without being hated. Life turned from awesome to sucky within one cracking. Funny, I still have RFB on MSN.

Hi, I'm Slayer. Can I take your Request?:

After some damage control, and an early unsuspension from Diluted., I was able to begin posting again on the Skin Zone. My graphics looked somewhat like these, and I was pretty confident in my skills. Confident enough to begin filling requests without fear of them being rejected. Requests were still a new thing, because of the addition of the Request Assistants. I position I thougt I'd work for.

I got the PM from Metabolic, Request Manager, during my holidays in Belguim in August, and typed an acceptance reply as best I could on the strange European keyboards. I guess people weren't that mad about my suspension and I was welcomed back into the community.

I did some stupid things an an RA. Exploded at alot of requesters for being idiots, made some dumb comments on the new skin, and was almost physically sick from stress. Still, despite my bad work ethic, I was offered Review staff. I accepted. Anything to get out of that "20 posts required!" hell. RAs are put through alot, so I hope anyone reading this realises and gives them the respect they deserve.

Deep Purple:

Reviews sucked. Seriously. I'm a writer, and I enjoy telling people what to do. Reviews had the potential to be fun, and I enjoyed it for the first few days. Unfortunately, after you've reviewed the same stupid forum twenty times in a row it gets a little boring. I cleared the four-page backup that I was originally recruited for, and requested a change to community team. 75 reviews completed was too bad, especially for someone who hated their job. I commend Charlo for going strong for so long. Here was hoping I'd like community better. After all it was my favourite section of the SZ.

To Be Continued, I Guess:

Here I am now, enjoying my job. I like community staff, and hanging around with my friends. I've done stuff that I regret, and things I wish I could again and again. I guess that's how life is. My music, taste and outlook on life has changed drastically during the last two years, and I can only wonder what'll happen in future. And I wonder alot. Go vegan, vote liberal, and give me money. Peace out.
