Board Address: http://w11.zetaboards.com/the_endless_war Board Software: Zetaboards Description: Whenever any member opens a topic, we'd like it to open to the first post of the first page (or simply making "Got to the first post of the first page of a topic" setting in Board Preferences the default for all members, rather than asking every member to change it at registration.) A second option would be to simply remove the ability to use the "Newest unread post" setting. Thanks! |

It's possible to remove the settings but automatically setting it as soon as they register with be an issue. I'm assuming that Ajax would be needed only a few coders on this forum know. There is a way to do it without Ajax but it would require the member to be redirected to the page where the setting is and have them (or the script) submit the update of the setting being changed which I probably couldn't do. So the bottom line is that it is possible but only a few people would be able to do here. Sorry I can't be of more help. |

I sat down and thought about it and it is actually pretty easy to do. It currently works by redirecting you to the newest post using `#new`. Well if I add a code which, if `#new` attempts to work, redirects you to the first post. I think someone would have to double check if this would work but I think it would. If you're still wanting this, I'm willing to give it a go

It should, but that may very well cost a board owner by using up another page load. That wouldn't be too great if the board had ad removal. |

Ah, good point. I just tried this using Google Dev and it seems to work nicely and doesn't require an extra page load. Paste this below the board and it should work fine.
