Hi. I've recently registered a Zetaboard forum and I'm hoping to get some advice from you.

I'd like some advice on how to insert our own header and what to do to make it fit with a skin we choose.

I can't find the skin alternatives to try on the board.

Lastly, I would like to change the colours of the admin and members so that, for eg, admin could be red and members blue. I've looked but I've had no luck so far in finding them.

Hope you can help and thanks.

I'm not sure what is meant by the header. If you mean the logo picture at the top, you need to make one in a graphics program, such as gimp, or request one in the request forum.

Skins or themes for zetaboards can be found in our theme galleries, simply follow the instructions in the topic, or check our ZetaDocs for a more detailed walk through.

Changing colours is easy:

Click on your member group and a list of things should pop up. In the prefix box at the top, place
Code:

[color=blue]
and in the suffix box, add
Code:

[/color]
. Change the colour part to red for admins. If you want, you can add a hex code, simply find one on google and place this in the prefix box instead:
Code:

[color=#fff]
and the suffix remains the same. Change the "fff" to whatever your hex code is.

Hope if helped, feel free to ask for clarification,

The[/code]

Once you've done this, go to: Admin CP > Themes > Edit Theme (your theme) and insert your logo, in the logo field (of course) :P

Inserting the logo should look something like this:

Code:

<img src="YOUR IMAGE LINK" alt="IMAGE NAME" />

If you want to center it, just add <center> </center> around the img src and remember to keep the apostrophes in there.

Just wanted to add, because we both missed it, that the logo image size will often depend on the theme you're doing it for. It's worth checking the theme thread before making a logo.

Brilliant, thanks The and Toastcrumbs. I've now changed the colours. I've used Hex colours before and they're great so I'll experiment with these at a later date :D

Sorry I forgot to explain myself better. Yes, it's the size of an image to go with the skin that I'm struggling with. We want quite a large logo with our full forum name on it but I know this doesn't always fit and I've no idea on how to make it do so. Here's an example of the size we might want to use:

Would this be too big? I've had problems with logos before on another forum. I've no idea on how to make it fit or check if it will fit in the first place. Lol, I made skins okay but the logo gets me every time?

You can try implementing it first, and if it seems to big then load the image into a image editing program, select the full image and resize it. Best to keep the proportions, so it doesn't seem out of place.

A good free online editor is www.pixlr.com, because it offers all the tools you need and it's free.

Smaller version of your image

I resized your image and you are more than welcome to use it, but you may like to try for yourself. Just in case what I've done, isn't what you want.

That looks good Toastcrumbs and thank you. I've been using paint.net for years. Would this be similar to the one you mentioned in your post?

We've chosen a Spider Web skin for the board.

Here's how we look so far.

I've absolutely no idea what size logo I need, whether it's like the one you've done for me or if it needs to be longer. Sorry to be a pest but is there any thread giving instructions for me to fit a logo correctly? I just don't know how to find the required size for the logo to fit. I remember having this problem before on another forum but the help we had there, isn't on this one so I'm having to do it myself.

I don't mind if we need a narrower logo. We're not fully set on the design yet, but the pic I showed is one of our favourites.

I think the logo is fitting well, although the pic on the left looks sort of squished...

In terms of what size, generally if it's an odd size, the theme will specify what size to make it. If I could have a link to the theme page where you found your theme, that would be helpful and I may be able to play around a bit with different sizes to see what works best on that theme.

Thanks. The logo you can see is how I designed it on my paint.net. Ideally we'd like a bigger logo with the caption at the side included but not necessarily in that position. I've just gone for the basic look so we could get a feel for how the forum could look, if that makes sense.

Any help is appreciated. I managed to make skins before but the logo, baffles me every time. It would be nice if the logo was better.

Makes perfect sense :P

You could always move the position of the text to the left, and increase the size of the picture, so it doesn't look so squished.

(As for your pixlr vs paint.net question, I just like pixlr because I don't have to download anything, it's a free online editor and I can store work online, but they are one in the same, yeah)

The problem we have with the picture Toastcrumbs is that it was small to begin with so I'd to stretch it out. I was so eager to experiment getting the logo the right size lol, that I just popped it on. It looks okay but as you and The say, it looks squished. After all the years of doing logos, I still struggle and yet a skin design was easier for me. Yes I know..I don't make sense :D

I'd like a look at the pixlr you mentioned. I did have to download the paint.net but it's come in handy as it's free. It was great for me making my colours/images for skins in the past. I don't mind trying something new though.

Hello :) looking at the last posts and looking at your forum I was wondering why you made a whole thread for rules. Why not go the ACP>Board Preferences>Board Rules and have it done that way. Of course, if you like it like it is then by all means keep it ;)

P.S. Also why dont you let guests see the members page? :(

Hi. We were experimenting with the rules. We wanted to add a separate piece of our own. Both myself and the other admin have been on a forum where the rules weren't adhered to and many members were attacked. It's one reason why we set our own forum up. We wanted all members to feel that they wouldn't be abused, even though the rules say this. It's just our own personal way of assuring them.

We did have another forum before the Zetaboard. We discovered that one member or should I say ex-member was following other users through the forum by viewing the online list. It isn't much but we were wanting to safe guard members. We're hoping that this problem isn't going to happen now but we're just covering ourselves in case it happens again. Once we feel happy about it, it can be reviewed and may be changed in the future. I hope that all makes sense.
