I don't know how it happen, but when I try to use BB codes in my comments (bold, font, size, etc) only half the code shows up and at the end of my comment. Is this normal? I also notices that before the code issue developed that I would highlight what I was going to bold or italic and after this happen the highlight would shorten and exclude my text. I've been at sites where I highlight once for a text (say a whole comment) and I was going to bold and italic and size, but I found with each change I had to re-highlight the text again and repeat my steps.

You didn't make this happen. There is a BBcode bug that has plagued InvisionFree boards for a long time. You can fix it by installing this code:

Hello Helena.
The codes are placed in front and back of the selected highlighted text. Is it normal for the codes to extend beyond and outside the selected text?
Just wondering.
And thank you for your great assistance. I sometimes "feel" like I'm a bother in asking so many questions and needing so much help recently. I know you are there for members like me, but I just can't help "feeling" inadequate and "lost" most of the time when I get to these parts of IF. Usually, I just stick to my board, but you know, one wants to improve and make their boards the best they can be for others to enjoy and use. Just thought I say so. Thanks again.

You're welcome. We all started off not knowing much about the system, so don't be at all hesitant to just keep asking questions until you get a feel for things.

The way the code works once installed, is to put the BBcode tags around text that you have highlighted. Or to just deposit both tags in the post if no highlighted text is present.

Is that not what is happening on your board?

Hi Helena.
Yes, in the beginning the BB codes worked well where the highlighted text remained highlighted, even including the codes so I didn't have to highlight again manually.

Yes, I could also deposit the codes first and then copy/paste (or type out my text) between the codes.

No, what spurred this question/post was that I would highlight the text and click the appropriate code but only the front code would paste/deposit in the text box and at the end of the text.

Considering the bugs, the link you provided is installed and appears to work. At least both codes show up in the right place (front/end) and all I have to do now is when I highlight a piece of text it would remain highlighted after the codes are placed and then I just hold the shift bar and use the arrows to advance the highlight (if more codes are needed for the one text I am modifying with codes.

Thank you for your patience. I agree with the first rule of learning: repetition is the first rule of learning. :)
