Sorry, have been unable to find a previous topic on external photo storage sites and uploading restrictions on ZetaBoards.

I prefer to use Flickr but they only share through https and that doesn't seem to be friendly onZetaBoards. Is there a setting I need to change or someway that I can upload from Flickr?

Thanks so much-

yes, that looks perfect! Tell me how please?

I see your link is an https:. The Humboldt Bay Eagle Group I belong to does not allow linking from https only http. Is that something in the settings of the group or is this really a flickr problem?

Thanks for your help

All I did was enter the URL into the standard IMG BBCode:

[img]IMAGE URL[/img]

When I copy the link from the image in my Flickr account I get the box that has no image, just a question mark.

Are you copying your link from the image displayed in your Flickr account or getting the link a different way??

Can you provide an example of the image code you're trying to use, and the actual Flickr page you're trying to get the image from please.

Yes, here you go. Sorry I had to be away from the computer today and then reboot and find this support forum again!

https://www.flickr.com/photos/allfiredupglassbeads/13328979785/

Hope the answer will be very obvious to you. This is a copy and paste from the web search bar.

If I try to send it this address comes up to copy:

<iframe src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/allfiredupglassbeads/13328979785/player/" width="500" height="313" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen oallowfullscreen msallowfullscreen></iframe>

Thanks again for your help.

It appears that the sharing settings for this image have been restricted. Did you upload the photo? If so, you'd have to check the photo settings to allow it to be shared. I've never really used Flickr so I can't give you any advice on how to do that unfortunately.

Once that's done, you should be able to see a direct link to the image in the sharing options in the user panel on the right hand side of the website. Copy the direct link to the image and paste it into image BBCode tages.

Code:

[img]IMAGE URL HERE[/img]

Let us know how you go.

The way I got the IMG url from a page like the one you linked to is through Chrome's Inspect Element. It would be confusing to you at first, but if you want this to work I think that's the only way.

In Chrome, right click over the image when you're on a page such as this. Go to Inspect Element.

Upon entering, you should see this. Notice that the thing highlighted in blue starts with <a which means it's an anchor. Above it is a div (<div); go to that and "collapse" it with the arrow pointing downwards next to it. Go to the second <img. You should see this (notice the img is highlighted in blue now). Now right click the src (it's blue text) and open in a new tab. And voilą, you now have your URL. :)

Thank you for those detailed instructions. I'll give it a try tomorrow and post a reply to let you know if this worked.

I am on a Mac and prefer to use Safari. Do you think the browser is the problem?

It should work just the same.

I (think I) found it through Safari by enabling it's Web Inspector. Must be an easier way but I'm gong to st it here as a test to see if I copied the right address. Thanks for your patience:

hmmm, image tags. are those the commands with the < > ?
Do I need those to simply post the image on the Humboldt Bay Eagle forum? I thought the Image command would add them. It seemed to open properly in your reply which all the forum really is, a place to document behavior on that nest.

Also, your instructions mentioned the sharing setting on the photo. Everything I have on there is set to Public for viewing, but not necessarily commenting. They have no more instructions for changing that.

This may be the best I can do from Flickr.

Thanks-

Code:
