Hi, Is it possible to remove the 'This post must be approved by a moderator.' when members make a new thread? It's rather annoying. Thanks, Tom |

You can do this with each group. What you need to do is go to your groups page. Click on the name of the group that you want to edit. Scroll until you find something similar to: Require moderator approval, most likely under the section Posting or something similar... |

I've set this to 'yes', which I would have thought will work.

The Avoid Moderation Approval is not what you want to change to yes. The "This post must be approved by a moderator" message has to do with people on modQ. If you check yes then any member you need to put on modQ won't be affected by it. Is this happening to every member who posts or ones who just start a new thread? I made a test account called GEEK, as I'm doing all the admin work, before publishing the forum to my current members on another board (who know Jack all about this) later in the year. It was a new thread I made under GEEK, and the first one on the board. |

Is it possible you inadvertently placed that account on modQ? |

I know nothing about modQ, or even how to add anyone to it. How do you add people to it? |

ModQ is when you put a member on post approval. When they are on modQ every post they make will not show to anyone but staff until it is approved by a staff member. To place someone on modQ you click on the member's name which takes you to their profile. Under Profile Information you will see Apply a Member AutoTool: with a drop down box. The first one on the list should be Place user on ModQ. Click Submit. OR if you want to give a warning with it, click on the warning level under the member's profile. There you can choose how long they are on modQ so you don't have to manually remove them each time. My suggestion is to first check if you have the member GEEK on modQ. Go to your ACP. On the left side find and click Member Search. Scroll down until you see On moderator queue? and select Yes. Then click the Member Search button. This will show a list of anyone that is currently on modQ. If the name GEEK shows, then you will need to remove them from modQ. If it's there let me know and I can try to walk you through the removal. |

I did as you said to see if GEEK is on the moderator queue, and it's not.

Hmm. I don't know what it could be. I'm sure it's something simple but I can't think of what it might be. Maybe create another account and see if it's doing the same thing. If it is then I'd submit a support ticket from your ACP so support staff can try to figure out what the issue is. I just thought of something. In your ACP go to Groups then click on the group that GEEK is in. Look under Posting Permissions and make sure the first 3 choices are set to Yes. Edited by 1days, Mar 30 2014, 03:52 PM.

Ah, I found a solution! Turns out I set that forum to 'Moderate Topics and Replies'!
