Hi there,

I'd like to set my forum width to a decreased 960px. Is there any way I can do this?

Thanks,
Tom

In your theme appearance look for this -

Code:

#wrap, #logo, #submenu, #submenu_bar, #top, #top_bar {
margin: 0px auto;
padding-left: 0px;
padding-right: 0px;
width: 1024px;
}

And try changing the 1024px to 960px.

I couldn't find that, so I added it to the bottom of my CSS list, and it seemed to do nothing.

That's because in the javascript section of your board template you have this:

Code:

<style type="text/css">#wrap, #logo, #submenu, #submenu_bar, #top, #top_bar { margin: 0 auto; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; width: 1024px; }</style>

and in your CSS (Board Appearance) you have this:

Code:

#wrap, #logo, #submenu, #submenu_bar, #top, #top_bar {
margin: 0px auto;
padding-left: 0px;
padding-right: 0px;
width: 960px;
}

So the CSS is loaded first telling it to be 960px wide then you immediately have more CSS inline telling it to be 1024px! :facepalm:

I'm probably being a dumbo, but this is all I have in my javascript:

Code:

<style type="text/css">
div.margin {
margin-left: 220px !important;
}
</style>

<!--SHOUTBOX HEIGHT-->

<style type="text/css">
#shoutbox {
width: 1000px !important;
height: 346px !important;
}
</style>

Anyway, how do I go about changing it?

It may be in your Theme Layout:

Admin CP > Themes > Edit Theme Layout

In looking at your site's source code, it's at the very top where the javascript would be included, so I assumed that's where it is. Check your theme layout for:

Code:

<style type="text/css">#wrap, #logo, #submenu, #submenu_bar, #top, #top_bar { margin: 0 auto; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; width: 1024px; }</style>

. . . and remove it :)

Okay, how about a link to your board, for I must be looking at the wrong one. I'm viewing the site you have in your mini-profile: http://w11.zetaboards.com/themeparkgeek/index/

If that is the same site, then the theme I'm looking at is not the same one you are working on.

Yes, that's the correct board, and I only have one theme. :/

Well, all I know is you are repeating it and if you look at your forum's source code, you'll see the part I'm talking about . . .

Code:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:fb="http://www.facebook.com/2008/fbml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"><head><title>Board Offline</title><meta name="description" content="A theme park based forum with on and off topic sections!" /><meta name="keywords" content="theme park, alton towers, thorpe park, chessington, towerstimes, towers street, towers nerd" /> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://w11.zetaboards.com/c/57465/242/css.css" /><style type="text/css">#wrap, #logo, #submenu, #submenu_bar, #top, #top_bar { margin: 0 auto; padding-left: 0; padding-right: 0; width: 1024px; }</style>

See the line being added after your css.css is loaded? It's there, somewhere :D

I have absolutely no idea then! Unless a support admin could help, I suppose it can't be done, as I have no idea where that is in the style sheet.

Check each of the sections in your Board Template and the entire Theme Layout. It can't be anywhere else.

To make it easier, hold Ctrl/Cmd + F, and then type "</style>" (without the quotation marks).

Nope, no where to be found! Would it be easier to send a support ticket?

You're auto-specifying the width here:

Admin CP Posted Image Themes Posted Image Themes Posted Image Edit Theme Settings Posted Image Theme Width

That's why that coding appears in your source code.

Ah thank you! I didn't think of that at all! :P
