Recently Brandon announced that the ZB ToS changed and it's possible. How does it works?

If the ownership is transferred, I get the username and password to the Owner's account, or my original account (and therefore its current usergroup) gets the owner status?

Can the still active owner decide to transfer the ownership to another administrator while still being active?

Hi Nemo,

Assuming your board meets the criteria set out by the ownership transfer policy, the actual account that is considered the "board owner" would change. So member #1 would still have his/her account but your account would be considered by the system to be the "root" admin (always have ACP access, be able to delete and rename the board, your account cannot be edited by other users in the Admin CP, etc.).

Technically, the Terms of Service Brandon posted still state that an active admin would have to transfer his/her user credentials to transfer ownership. However, if a root admin opened a ticket and requested that another user have root ownership instead of them we may be able to oblige.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hello Nicolas,

Thanks for the answers! I have one more question. What about the ROOT Admin group? If the ownership is transferred to my account, will my usergroup from now on be considered the ROOT Admin group (possibility to see online users IP, set the groups automatic promotions, edit the ROOT Admin group, &c)? Or I will have to move the former Owner to his own group and set it as it was when he was still an owner, and then edit the ROOT group to make it the same group I used so far (permissions, rank images, &c)?

Nothing changes about the groups. The current default admin group remains the default admin group. So you would have to move members accordingly, but the group matters very little when compared to the owner account.

Will the `profile/admin` page show the new board owner's profile, or the original's?

The new board owner's.
So while the member number designation will remain the same (the board registrant will still have "Member #1" in their profile), all things which indicate the root admin, or are unique to the root admin, will be transferred to the other account.
`/profile/admin/` is an easy way to know which member is the member with persistent access to the Admin CP for the support team - and obviously needs to remain accurate: so it does.
