A question for you all--What kind of theme is needed?

I do a lot of restoration work in the galleries here, and that keeps me pretty busy. However, I'm thinking of taking a break from that and working on a new theme. I decided it might be fun to get some ideas from you guys in the community as to what you think might be a good project that would also fill a space in the galleries that is not already covered. Possibly think about themes people have already unsuccessfully asked for as inspiration.

I'm not limiting ideas to anything specific. You could suggest a color pallete, a style, a genre or some thematic idea that you feel would appeal to network users. Your idea can be general, or be fleshed out as much as you like.

I also plan to release a mobile version of whatever the theme is, if practical.

I'll see how this topic goes and what is submitted. If I decide to do your idea, I'll work your name into the theme title. o, and there won't be a vote. This will be decided purely on what appeals to me and what I think I can do justice to. ;)

i envision a theme that has multiple elements..industrial (dark). Glowing (bright) warm pastels (light) throw in a pinch of The, DPM, Xbotica etc to enhance overall theme. A collaboration bringing together supports greatest coders. That is all i have to contribute at this time helena

I didn't see a Legend of Zelda themed theme anywhere. There are InvisionFree skins that are Zelda themed.

I'm not the greatest coder by any means, and I know that I never will be.

You're right, there, are none.

I personally don't see themed themes going very far. I see most of them as a theme only a few people would want, so making them isn't as important. I would instead go for making a more general theme that could work for many people.

Personally I like flat themes, pastel colours, and anything that gives a drawing/artistic feel.

One of the themes that I have been trying to work out in my mind is a Pancake Day theme, because there isn't one. I've always planned to release one at some point, but I just can't design one which looks good. If you were to take it on Helena, it would be an amazing theme I'm sure.

In that case you can count me out coding wise ,mainly because I suck at it. :P

Design wise....maybe.

I'd like to see something really unique, that moves away from the typical look of forum themes. Kind of like how Outline's Arux theme approached it in a completely different way - I think we've seen so many themes which are just that, a different theme of a standard forum layout.

Let's see something truly unique and ground-breaking on this network!

So on board with this too. I prefer to use forums that aren't designed to look like forums (if that makes sense). I like to see unique things which, as stated, Outline Arux very much is. I expect you and Cory would do wonders on a new theme :P

Unfortunately for the type of project you are suggesting, Cory and I no longer make themes together. But you're right--Cory is able to code just about anything I can come up with. I'm rather limited when coding on my own. But I do like the idea of taking a fresh look at the standard layout. And I know how to ask for help when I need it. Seriously thinking about this suggestion....

Although pancakes sound pretty good too. ^_^

Any inspiration from those? And yes, I agree with Lout - something as inventive and creative as Outline's 'current' theme would be amazing.

I would also see a fresh look on the standard layout, and possibly mix that in with creating as a base theme. Such as Ledger for example

Just throwing this out there, but I think it'd be pretty neat to see the coders/designers of here do a small collaborative theme similar to Outline. I've seen quite a few post in this thread already showing activity and support. Would be awesome to see what you guys could come up with.
