Hey all, Been a while since I last used ZetaBoards and I am thinking of coming back and making a general discussion forum with a paid domain name. But.. is ZetaBoards dying or fading away? Post your opinions and such here, thank you. |

Take a guess. ![]() Simple response I know, but a software can't be classified as dying when it's still being supported. There are also plenty of communities around both old and new that are still going and doing well for themselves. |

Just wondering really and thank you for the response. I've seen a lot of ZetaBoards forum with around 2 million posts and such.. which I was like WOW! ![]() Is there a best server out there such as s1.zetaboards.com and such? Are the newest servers slower than the oldest or do they all run the same? Thanks. |

You can't really choose the server you get since it just depends on what one is currently open for new board registrations. No server performs better hardware wise than another, so there isn't really an issue of getting a server that runs poorly because of its hardware. The only problem that tends to occur is DDoS attacks, which can cause slowness or downtime for the server(s) being targeted. The best way to get an idea about those in terms of duration, frequency, and targets, is to view our announcements forum, which would show every topic we have that has announced any of these attacks: http://if.invisionfree.com/forum/2/ While these attacks may sound off putting, more so that they can occur on the current registration server which is S11, I've seen a board that started this year on that server which went on to win in Forum Promotion's Site Battle Madness 2014, with another long established ZetaBoards forum coming in 2nd place to it, and another newly created ZetaBoards forum coming in 3rd. The full battle results are neatly summarised on this handy graphic: ![]() Just so you're aware, ChilledEchoes, The Mario Forums, and We Are The Walking Dead are the ZB forums in question. The contest was open to any site (forums, blogs, etc.) on any software, so that may give you some idea of how far a community is able to go on this service regardless of whether other free or paid forum hosts offer better or different features than what we do. |

They're still being made frequently. I should note that foruming (or even ZetaBoards) is not dying. The world has come a long way since forum softwares were popular but what we're experiencing is forums becoming less popular but will never disappear off the face of the earth. I do not believe that a forum software can die. In this day & age of the Internet, a forum can be more popular than ever because of the use the Internet has in these modern times. I've used a wide range of forum softwares and unless they are severely unsupported or outdated, they will have members who will use the service. ZetaBoards is, without a doubt, the best free and hosted forum software on the market which I would recommend to anyone if they asked how to create one free and without trouble. ZetaBoards is not dying, things and people move on which you can define as generations of members. I'd like to see myself as one of the newer generation compared to Helena which has been here for many many years. So no, ZetaBoards is not dying because a wide range of forums still use the software. Whilst it may be unpopular due to a lack of PR, it's still alive and well with many new members joining and new themes/features are being created by both the community and staff team. Creating a theme can take a long time before it can be posted here in zetaboards support forum , theme creators are doing these for free and no payments , so wait until they post some themes for you

http://if.invisionfree.com/forum/1000728/ All the themes listed on this page are from this year. This isn't counting anything within the sub-forums. |

I think many of the more active people of Zetaboards had just vanished for a little while due to life/school/work. Most of the 'active' generation have grown up but are trying to come back. I returned back in January and I'm glad I did. Zetaboards isn't dying in my opinion - it is reviving though!

Oi, this old fart is back to ZetaBoards... again. It's amazing that ZetaBoards is still going strong to this very day. I've been meaning to get back into making a forum with it, but I could never keep up a strong interest in it or just never thought of a good topic to go by. |

I wouldn't say ZetaBoards is going strong. The official updates are months apart, there's very little in the way of announcements by staff unless there are ongoing issues with server stability, themes and codes aren't being released regularly, and most of the discussion that is happening is between the same group of people. ZetaBoards is dying (has been for a while), and pretending as though it's not is doing more harm than good. |

How can something be dying if it's been going for a while? In retrospect I believe I'm dying right now very slowly as I increase in age. The newer generation (myself included) of ZetaBoards is not what the old generation used to be because ZetaBoards isn't as popular as it was when it was newer, and of course it wouldn't be - things aren't popular forever. Although I don't release as many codes now, I'm continuously adding codes to my own site and even have a position on another forum doing the exact same thing. InvisionFree is more dead than ZetaBoards. The fact we still have hundreds of viewers (including guests & members) view the forum every day is proof that the forum software is far from dying. |
