However, a board can have the same name as another one if it is on a different server. So you may be able to use that name for a new board if the registration server is different than the server that particular dead board is on.
Why can't the server to which a board is registered differ per registration? So if person 1 and person 2 register two boards (one each) in a one hour time frame, they may get different servers from the ones available. Is there a reason all boards get registered to one server, and then that server changes after some time?
Does any staff have the answer to this question?
Brandon.

But if you think about it, you can probably figure out the likely (general) reason.
I'm not sure I do have the likely (general) reason. Care to elaborate?
No technical reasons, just logistical. That said, we are looking into decent ways to expand the user of board names. And as always you can always use a custom domain name for your board.

I say his name and he shows up. It’s like he’s a wizard. Or a ninja. :ninja:

I love how the example forum used in this topic is an archive forum, and one that a lot of people know about and still visit every now and again :P . Where would we be without Tue's designs!

What would be the benefit from it being deleted? If anything, it wouldn't help.

Not an issue since that improving technology (and bigger hard drives) allow for continuous expansion, so space isn't an issue. I think you just want the board name. :shifty:
