I use a prepaid phone and don't want to waste minutes trying to get on with it. I can't access our s7 board through my home wifi but others on Twitter have said they too can get there through their mobile devices.

omg that worked for me
it allows access but then once i begin to navigate to another page by clicking it
the browser automatically removes the "www" part and the same thing happens again.
this is crazy lol

WWW. will work because it will be pointing to our server with a CNAME record, whereas the main part of your domain will be pointing with an A-record using the out-of-date IP address. Updating the IP address will resolve this.

Yes, mine too. The only way I've gotten round that is changing my domain name to the default W11 one.

Thanks.

I've pointed the A-record to 173.192.47.158. Hopefully that's the right one? I'm guessing it might take 123.reg a while to catch up.

Most domain companies are quite quick these days (Some are almost instant). You can try clearing your DNS cache in case your system is using a bad cached address https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html

(Note that it might still take up to 24 hours for changes to take effect depending on who your provider actually is).

I can only access affected sites on my cell network, any attempt to load them on my home WiFi gets a connection timeout, regardless of the device I'm trying to use. Why is this? I thought at first it was cache related but then I tried an old pc that's never loaded the site before and it still didn't work on the WiFi.
The cache with the outdated info is then likely at your ISP or router level and not your home computer's level. Your cellphone is presumably operating over a different network (cell data) vs your ISP network/wi-fi.

Our 1and1 domain is setup using the CNAME method as shown here and am still having loading issues as mentioned previously on my home wifi. The default s7 url won't load either and I've flushed my DNS cache multiple times. I've gotten to the homepage and login page a couple times but after pressing enter to log in I lost access again. After reading the post above it looks like it's probably an AT&T issue.

Ah OK, is there a way for me to override that or am I stuck waiting for my ISP to figure it out?

So should I contact my ISP and have all 1,000 members and hundreds of guests do the same?
lol

I think I'm going to have to relocate unfortunately. This is just too much.

As has been explained before in this topic, DNS changes take time. Once your ISP’s cache updates, your domain will work for you again. It shouldn’t take more than a few hours (the 24-48 hours are an outside limit, but it is usually much faster).

You will experience this issue regardless of where you are hosting a website. ;)

For anyone having trouble changing their DNS records, we are happy to help you through a support ticket. :)

If the info is outdated at your router or ISP it would not be permanent nor a long term thing. You could try the suggestions on this page to see if that helps at all should you not wish to wait for the change to occur by itself: http://247support.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9676/~/resetting-an-internet-connection-(flush-dns)

I understand.

How do we update DNS settings? Is it through the admin control panel?

And was there a reason that the DNS info was switched? Was it a measure taken to prevent future attacks? Or was it randomly done?
My site is very large, and my concern is that the same thing will happen all over again and it'll be another situation where members and guests are waiting hours for their ISP providers to catch up to the aftermath of another attack.

I understand these types of DNS hiccups occur on any server, however it's a fact that servers 7 and 11 have been targeted continuously recently.
I have lots of love for ZetaBoards and the staff here, for the most part the experience has been great.
But I can't continue to subject my community to something that you guys unfortunately have no control over.
I'd rather shell out the money to run it myself through Vbulletin, etc. and pocket the ad revenue to compensate for the upfront costs.
