Server status says that all servers are online, yet I cannot reach the board right now (ZB w11). Cloudflare problems (Error 522). And the board doesn't have domain redirection. Been down for at least 20-25 minutes |

Thanks but I don't seem to be able to add it still. Everything seems to be in order and I haven't changed any settings but I still get the error adding it through the Domain Manager. |

I'm on w11 as well and I can reach my board with the zetaboards link, but not with any of my domains (I have four.) I tried to delete and re-add a domain but it's saying that domain is not pointing at w11 with a CNAME record, only...it is. Error: The domain you have entered (jaimexbrienne.com) does not appear to point to this server. The domain should point to s11.zetaboards.com with a CNAME record. Error Code: 50016:6096425 Using this for the IP 173.193.157.170 And w11.zetaboards.com in the CNAME. I get a 'This webpage is not available' screen. |

I'm getting the 522 Error as well when I try using my domain name (http://christianconcertarchive.com). It loads up fine when I use the zetaboard url though (http://w11.zetaboards.com/ChristianRockBoard/index/). |

My domain also won't work (http://parkplanningcommission.com), but this morning I'm also not able to access through the zetaboard url (http://w11.zetaboards.com/ParkPlanCommission/index/), with the Error 522 message that w11.zetaboards.com is giving the error. I checked and it shows that all servers are up and running. EDIT: The Zetaboard url is now working again, and I have done a bulk email to members so they are aware of it as an alternative. |

I'm also getting the DNS error for http://arableague.co.uk. The zetaboards url (http://s7.zetaboards.com/arabian2/index/) is showing a Cloudflare offline error. |

A lot f the custom urls that have problems still seem to point to the old 173. IP addresses which no longer work There is information on this thread DNS error 1001 - can't access domain about how to solve these problems. |

As much as possible, you should be using CNAME records as outlined in this post. |

Nicolas, part of the problem is that some people cannot use CNAME records, it blocks other services they use as it did with us, others just want their boards to work like they did last week and the techie stuff doesn't help them to understand or solve what is wrong. A lot of board owners/adminstrators don't know whether it is possible to use CNAME records or not. Happy to help, let me know what I can do. |

Just to be clear, as well as the CNAME record as outlined in the post, should there also be a A (Host) record? If so, what should it be set to? (I'm basing it from the instructions here.). |

Very few board owners have consciously chosen A-records over CNAME for any particular advantage - except that is what much of our documentation had most easily outlined. We are in transition right now, implementing CloudFlare for DDoS prevention. If people want to use a custom domain with our service and CloudFlare now, the simplest way by far is to use a CNAME record. We're working on a variety of domain problems and solutions, but we cannot share the IP of our servers for A-record purposes: this defeats the protection that CloudFlare provides. |

Nicholas, could you give me some advice regarding the DNS issue I am encountering on the gundam eclipse forums (default URL below). http://s1.zetaboards.com/Gundam_Eclipse/index/ The forum has been using the domain Gundam-Eclipse.net for several year, however we are encountering problems with the domain over the past week. Cloudflare settings are as follows (you will note that the CNAME is correctly linked to s1.zetaboards.com): ![]() When using www.gundam-eclipse.net the error narration suggests that the domain is linked correctly to zetaboards. ![]() However when I try and add Gundam-eclipse.net in the domain manager, the following error message is displayed ![]() Is there any solution to this problem, would deleting the A record on cloudflare solve this issue and allow Gundam-Eclipse.net to be added in domain manager? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |

So how do you redirect to a board without using IP addresses when it is impossible to use a CNAME record to define an alias? The IP addresses associated with the Zetaboard servers and the custom urls defined on Cloudflare are visible to the rest of the Internet simply by doing a nslookup against the Cloudflare name servers. In the case of the Zetaboard servers the names & IP addresses are propagated throughout the name server hierarchy on the Internet. As using CNAME records overides the targets for other name server records. People who have mail services, for instance, with their registrar/provider cannot use an @ CNAME record to define an alias and have to use A record IP forwarding. This characteristic of the CNAME record and the effect on other resource records, such as MX records, is defined in various RFCs. In our case I have set up two @ A records on our name server targeting the two IP addresses allocated on the Cloudflare name servers to our domain name. As I understand it traffic to/from our board is still passing via Cloudflare and its protective proxy system. Several of the custom urls that have had and still have access problems have MX records pointing at mail servers, an @ CNAME record will effectively block any email addresses defined on the domain, exactly as happened to us at the weekend until I deleted the CNAME and set up the A records. I suspect Cloudflare has the situation covered anyway. Somebody launching an attack isn't going to be worrying about whether he/she should or should not be using the IP address to target the computer. |

I continue to get this error message on our site: www.sinfuldesiresericole.com, our direct link without the redirect is: http://w11.zetaboards.com/SinfulDesiresEricole/topic/10787473/1/
If the issue has been resolved that what am I doing wrong? |
