It is possible to access a board using a custom domain via A record IP addressing once Cloudflare have set up the custom url on their name server. If you do a name server look up on the cloudflare name server and then set up @ A records for the IP addresses on your own nameserver. I had to do this on ours (123-Reg) in order to stop the mail forwarding of our email addresses on our domain being blocked. NB, if any of your users have addresses on your domain then emails sent out via the board (emails via a users profile, password resets, bulk email) are still blocked at the moment. Am still waiting for a reply to the support tickets raised yesterday. At least most of our members can now access the board and we can send them emails to let them know something about what is going on. Not ideal but better than where we were Saturday. |

According to the support pages at Cloudflare the 520 thru 524 messages indicate that the problem is somewhere between Cloudflare and Zetaboard's servers. There isn't a problem with the connection between Cloudflare and the client device as Cloudflare is able to put up an error message on the client device. There is a useful page here which helps explain. N.B. Test 1 using the "direct" sub-domain doesn't apply as it appears that the sub-domain hasn't been implemented which given what Zetaboards want to acheive by using Cloudflare is what you would exxpect. It goes someway to explain why two people accessing the same board get different responses. |

The 520 errors are probably hiccups with the server which should be getting less frequent as we continue to implement CloudFlare protection. Keep in mind that we're still being attacked; we just have much better defenses now (i.e. CloudFlare). Edited by ElementalAlchemist, Dec 1 2014, 10:06 AM.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Cloudflare solution is a great idea to give our boards better protection, Just sharing the information that I have collected. We are all more tolerant of things when we know more about what is going on and, you never know, somebody reading these topics may just come up with some solutions if they know a little more about what the problems are.
