On an old board of mine, I used to have a plug-in that allow users to post clickable hashtags, like in twitter. And the plugin would generate a link to search for the hashtag elsewhere in the board.

Is it possible to have this functionality on zetaboards? This was the old plug-in I had on my board in case if anyone wanted to take a look at it.

It could be possible if it links to a search page which links to all posts which contain the hashtag.

Thats how it was done on my old board too.

Would it be possible to automatically embed a link into any text that has a hashtag? Or would there have to be a BBcode? Because I prefer the automatic option.

Hmm, seems the searching function on ZetaBoards isn't very strict. Here's a search for `#hashtag`, nothing there actually contains `#hashtag` as you can see. So, unless you're happy with it searching like that, it's not going to be possible.

ZB should really have an option for strict search.
