Simple feature request: Don't update page location

Not sure if these requests actually get looked at, but here's another one.

Prevent the user's location from being updated with a simple form parameter, such as `update=0`. So if I were to call the portal like: `$.get(main_url + "site?update=0")`, then it would not update my location.

Benefits: It stops it from showing that everyone is viewing one specific page because of one AJAXed code they have in their templates. The AJAX request will perform slightly quicker with at least one less query having to be run. Completely intrusive code which resets the user's location to their current page (`$.get(location.href)`) can be stripped out, 1) removing server load, 2) removing page load time and hence prevents the necessity of annoying palliatives.

Cons: I really don't think there are any.
