So, after the server outages, I was considering switching my board to a domain. While I've seen tips posted about it, I had a couple of questions before I actually commit to doing so. 1) Will that decrease the risk of any outages in the future? 2) Has the transition from zIF boards to a custom domain proven worthwhile to those who've done it in the past? A domain will not decrease any chances of outages, as this is down to the server itself that your board is hosted on. |

So, is there anyway to ensure that you can access your board in the event of outages? I was just attempting to take some sort of precautionary measure, since we've been working on it for like... over ten years. |

If the server goes down, there's nothing you can do but wait for it to be fixed on our end by our server provider/Brandon. Hence why any board affected by the recent DDoS attacks was inaccessible, regardless of whether they use a domain or not. Think of it like having your internet connection go down due to an issue at your ISP. Doesn't matter what router or internet stuff you have, you're forced to wait for your ISP to fix the issue so you can regain access as normal. |
