I would love to have control over what is in my .htaccess and robots.txt files, and am curious if there's a way to host them externally, in order to overwrite the ones Zetaboards has enabled by default.
This is of course, being requested under the impression that it is not a violation of the ZToS/U.

That wont be possible due to not having access to the back end.

As the ZB network is a single "site" then I would speculate they all share the same .htaccess file in the root directory which would obviously not allow us access. It's all handled automagically anyway, why would you want to alter it?

I have external scripts and images that are large, and are used in the site quite often, if not throughout.
It would be nice to be able to tell browsers to cache them, and not simply rely on ZB to choose.

As for Robots.txt, there seems to be one for each forum iirc, and I'd would prefer to be the one controlling it, instead of leaving it up to automation.

I always thought the image headers had the info to chache them, not the site they were hotlinked on. Scripts and images on ZB are cached though. You can easily see that through the dev tool of your choice.

No free hosting, as far as i'm aware, lets you edit those files. If you want that extra flexibility then there is one way you can get it...

Then ZetaBoards would actually be doing something the competition isn't doing. Wouldn't that be a good thing?
