Is it possible to integrate StopForumSpam into ZetaBoards? the current anti-spam solution still lets bots through and it can get annoying for larger boards? |

I believe it requires PHP, so you wouldn't be able to integrate the API directly. Besides, spam on ZetaBoards is coming from human beings and not spambots. |

I toyed with this a while ago as well. SFS has a list of servers it integrates with, Zeta is not one of them. And as Cory pointed out, it is members. |

SFS also combats against members trying to sign up if their info is in the SFS database, it'll deny them registrations as well. |

A code will do nothing because I'm pretty sure your everyday typical spam member will know how to disable JavaScript. |

Regardless of whether or not they disable JavaScript, there are very easy/ obvious ways to stop/ prevent spambots/members with JavaScript, |

I've had a spam prevention code before (although it was scrapped because it made life difficult for usual members) and it worked very well for its purpose. I don't believe these spammers have their JavaScript disabled, and I don't think they would have any reason to as they'd believe any site with any knowledge of preventing spammers would do it in the site's core internal scripting (looks at Brandon ).

The problem is these spammers are not bots. They are people who can easily surpass a JavaScript anti-spam code. Spam bots are dealt with by enabling CAPTCHA. |

Considering the amount of effort they put into their posts of efforts to spam (which is next to none other than quickly spamming a few sections and leaving) I don't think they would go through the necessary effort to disable their JavaScript. Even so it's possible to deny any user access to the forum via CSS if their JavaScript is not enabled. |

But then you prevent everyone without JS enabled to access your site, not just spammers. I'm against using JS to prevent spam because it can be disabled in less than 3 seconds, no matter how long it took to write or how good it would have otherwise been. |

I already covered this: http://support.zathyus.com/single/?p=18108962&t=5228365 Basically there are very little people who have their JavaScript disabled (either intentionally or browser is so old it doesn't support it) so it would make virtually no difference if you were to prevent users who have disabled their JavaScript from viewing the forum. Unless they're browsing with Tor (which has JavaScript limited/disabled) or they've disabled it for other security reasons (which is not really advised as the benefits of JavaScript heavily outweigh the disadvantages), it will make no difference to the overall running of your site. So much so Google requires JavaScript to be enabled in order for you to use their services (although I can't remember which ones). Matter of fact is you're more likely to affect users if your theme isn't compatible with old IE versions than are you preventing those with JavaScript disabled.
