In the Simple Machines software we're able to use classic keyboard shortcuts to insert bold, italic or underline BBCodes on the posting page. This is extremely useful when we're editing texts as I can do amost everything with the text using only the keyboard, and not the mouse. When moving parts, copying them, highlighting them or inserting certain formatting it is always easier and quicker when we can do everything with just a keyboard and don't have to move our hand back and forth between the keyboard and mouse.

I hate using MS Word to work on files (because it always tries to be smarter than its owner) and that's why so far I used ZetaBoards to work on texts. After the final edits were done I was copying them to MS Word file.

But right now I moved to the SM, because it is even easier there to work on texts than in the ZetaBoards. I hope this small feature can be added.

I'd love something like this as well, it's definitely one of the best features I use every time in MS Word.

This already exists. Although for some reason, some of them use the same shortcut. For example, both bold and right align use the same shortcut.

To use the shortcuts, you first need to know the command to use the accesskey (shortcut). For center align on a Mac with Safari, for example, press and hold Control + Alt + space (bar) (replace with the accesskey for BBCode).

If you want, I could create a code to change the accesskey for any two that have the same accesskey. Just make a topic in the request area.

I believe it's `Alt + I` for italics and `Alt + U` for underscore etc. I noticed that `Alt + B` has right align too :stunned:

If you inspect the buttons in Full Reply mode, you should see the "accesskey" attribute which determines the tag it's mapped to.
