I'm pretty sure it was in the other topic, but since I'm not going to bother to sift through 40 pages, I'll post it again:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_theory

Quote:

In scientific usage, a theory does not mean an unsubstantiated guess or hunch, as it often does in other contexts.

I don't really remembered that, but whatever could have happened. And since you used Wikipedia, obviously you think it is a valid source.

First of all, that's a circular argument.

Second, I don't think it's a valid source, which is why I read the scientiic theory article carefully before posting it (it explains the concept, and I didn't feel like typing all that out).

As of right now, my friend is one of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's nine children, according to Wikipedia.

Why don't you find me a non-biased, reliable secular source? I'm sure if these myths were all true there'd be sites dedicated to each.

And by the way, Vulcan's site was non-biased. It had all the stories from each civilization. It was very informative in terms of the stories.

Non-biased does not mean being informative. You can twist information in a way that makes your argument look correct without changing the information. Non-biased means a site that supports neither creationism nor evolution, and whose sole purpose is to provide information on the myths of those ancient cultures.

I know damn well what a bias is, but thanks for explaining it. Plus just because a site has references to the Bible in it doesn't mean it is biased.

Chances are it is. I'm not going to take any chances here.

you boast of the power of coincidence and yet you are hesitant to "take a chance"?

according to dictionary.com, they are synonyms. but i suppose that site is biased as well. they do show words on that site, there are words in the Bible, and the Bible after all is linked to Christianity.

It all depends on your beliefs.
And my opinion is that God isn't real, so it doesn't matter. A Christian or religious person's opinion is that it's impossible.

As I've heard from a tvshow that has nothing to do with this, but it gave out a good point.

But he did what was right, and payed for our sins

Quote:

Jesus couldn't down from the cross

He could have got down if he wanted to, but he loved us soo much, that he wanted to die on the cross, to keep us from going to hell.

But I'm still going to Hell, aren't I?

Quote:

Yes. Unless you accept a book that says there was a global flood, you're still going there. So am I apparently.

If you guys accept that Jesus died on the cross and believe in him, and believe in Heaven and stuff, and all the stuff in the bible, and pray a prayer and ask him to come into your heart and mean it, then you won't go to hell, and you'll get to go to Heaven.

How the hell are coincidence and taking risks related?

I'm sure that a dictionary can define what science is better than scientists can.

So what do you believe in? That when you die you just lie there in the ground for all eternity?
