Alot of people have asked me recently this quesion. "James, how do you make decent maintitles". I'm not naming names but they know who they are. Well, I have decided to write a series of tutorials, showing you different styles of maintitles. I hope you enjoy these tutorials as much as I have making them. Well, I'll stop rabbiting on and get started.

In this tutorial you are going to learn how to make this.

The Steps:

1 - Start out with a blank canvas of 300px width x 29px height. Next, create a new layer. We will call this Top. Zoom in to %1600 and get out your Single line Marquee Tool. Create 3 lines at the very top of the canvas. It dosn't matter what color they are. Then, go to Layers - Layer Style - Gradient Overlay. Complete it like so.

2 - Next, create a new layer. We will call this Indent. and get out your Single line Marquee Tool again. Excatly underneath your gradient bit, fill a black line, do down one and fill it with a white line. Here is an image if you don't get what I'm saying.

Then, set this layer to Soft Light.

3 - Create a new layer. We will call this bulk. Move it so it is the very bottom layer in the set. Flood fill it with whatever color you want. Go to layers - Layer Style and look at the image below.

4 - Final strep. Create a new layer . We will call this Highlight. Get out your Rectangular marquee tool (M). Highlight the top half of the image and fill it with white. Then set the opacity to %24. Your done. here are the layers of the maintitle.
