so whatever the Bible doesnt specifically direct Christians to do we shouldnt do it? do you drive a car? wear socks? im not saying Christmas overall hasnt gone commercial--but that makes no reason why Christians can't take it upon themselves to celebrate it and celebrate the true meaning--even if it isnt what the general american public is doing. however, if one doesnt feel the birth of Christ is worth celebrating--then thats just your opinion. nothing wrong with that. but its not some sin to celebrate Christmas because some people dont know the true meaning or because the Bible doesnt specifically tell us to celebrate the birth of Christ... |

What's the point of celebrating a cute little baby in a cradle with angels and wise men and shepherds? There's no real point in taking a short event from the Bible, even though it is true, and making it into some comercial holiday sh'bang. I hope I'm not offending anyone since I am going to continue. Also, how much of the tradition is actually from the Bible? If most of it is from the Bible, than where did the Christmas trees and decorative lights come from? And if most of it is not from the Bible, than what's the point in celebrating it? There's no reason in calling it 'Christ-Mass'. Just call it 'Presents and Trees and Lights'. I still hope that I'm not offending anyone, but I hope you can clearly see my point. I'm not trying to impress my beliefs on anyone; this is just what I think. |

I love Christmas and almost everything about it. If it offends you then that's your own loss. |

I don't actually think of it as a loss, but suite yourself. I don't wish to cause an argument.

you do claim the religion of christianity, correct? otherwise there is no real point or relevance of the counter argument. -- when the cute little baby is the savior of all mankind and the focal point of the religion, the following may find it appropriate to celebrate his birth. (especially when multiple books of the bible contain chapters relaying the story. the virgin birth, mary's struggle, etcetera etcetera.) the little sideshows are just fun things. its not a religion. its a holiday. christians are allowed to have fun too. God may not say to celebrate Christmas, but he also doesnt say not to. and seeing as it brings glory to him--i seriously doubt he frowns upon it. in other words--it may not all be a "jesus-fest". but its also not some satanic worship. it holds religious signifigance and its not a bad thing at any point. only good can come out of it. |

Anyone who is offended by Christmas is way too sensitive. Seriously. I think our society needs to grow up and realize not everything/everyone is going to agree with you. I myself, obviously, am not. I wuv Christmas.

No, but if it offends you then I think you need a grow up. People who celebrate Christmas don't always do it for the religious reasons, some do it so they can give something and have fun. We respect other peoples religions and their celebrations those people should do the same. >.< However I do believe its over commercialized. |

Well, He may not frown upon it, but he may not appreciate the way that people make it such a comercial affair. I think it's fine when people celebrate my birthday, but if they started stringing up lights and decorating trees I might say "I don't need this." I'm not saying that there is anything wrong in Christmas, but that it has hardly anything to do with the short chapter that is written in the Bible. Also, a lot of people celebrate Christmas but do not see the reason behind it. The reason that Christ was born was to suffer and bleed and die, and if people don't see that than why celebrate the birth of the one that came to save us? I am questioning how trees and lights were tacked onto a holiday that was supposedly to celebrate the coming of the Savior. I see that this is turning into a religious debate, and I would rather not, and seeing as I am already starting to get a bit expressive of my own opinions and people don't seem to appreciate it, I shall back off with no hard feelings. *wishesthattheBrainJuiceforumwasback* |

Er, does that mean that I should celebrate something that I don't believe in? Is it okay not to believe in christmas just because the general populace does? :? |

As I said before, I couldn't think of a better word to use there. Thus I said " For lack of a better word, I used loss." in a previous post. |
