not only are the musicians in those bands more versatile guitarists than dragonforce, but theyre also better songwriters (not that thats hard). that isnt saying much since i dont particularly care for the songwriting in any of those bands (though i can throw on 'the oncoming storm' and still dig it), and dont focus entirely on one single thing throughout the whole song. theyre actually MORE original than dragonforce as well (especially unearth, seeing as the bands listed are actually some of the bands that basically created the gothencore sound, while dragonforce is just run of teh mill power metal...but even cheesier and even worse at writing song. The vocalists in at least two of those bands can sing (i havent heard the uneart guy actually SING...i think he just screams witha bit of spoken in there and the atreyu vocalists (both) blow), wheeas the dragonforce vocalist is like nails on a chalkboard. and i'm not talking about james labrie annoying. because james labrie has vocal prowess, he just tends to get really high and annoying, i'm talking about extremely small range, and very little actual expression, but then, how can you properly express such horrible lyrics? |

They are all right, the lyrics sort of suck (worse than any other power metal I've ever listened to...just random buzzowords) but many of their songs are catchy. I like most power metal a lot better though. |

What the **** do Opeth have to do with DragonForce? LOL I hate all of them equally, but sorry, Atreyu takes the cake of horrible metalcore. I haven't even bothered to try out Unearth. Major cons of DragonForce being that they're mediocre power metal with horrible vox and a terrible fan base. Not that the fan base matters (actually it does, shut up to anyone). That's just an opinion though, **** I love Blind Guardian and Edguy even. But they're a tad more past the whole trendy power metal sound. Not to mention they're pretty much staple bands IMO. Lyrically, I don't even care really. That may be something you value in music, but it's the way the lyrics are presented that get me. I listen to such horrible music the lyrics can't even be understood without a lyric sheet. The tone of voice is what I really dig, yo. But you're a tad more knowledgable on what really is the key composition when it comes to anything music wise, I'm pretty much a 'newb'. Synopsis: DragonForce ist nicht krieg. |

I've heard of them. My friend showed me a video of theirs. Their guitar skills are pretty good, but their lyrics are so cheesy. But I still don't like them at all. I hate power metal. |

Opeth completely owns most bands in most aspects. But that's neither here or there. Speaking from experience though, Opeth were at least 166 times better than DragonForce were live. |

Eh, Satriani or Vai? Those two are shredders with more soul than you can dream of. Shredding isn't just sixteenth notes at 200 bpm, but yet everyone thinks it is. And fast music can have just as much feel as slow music can. |
