Okay, I am trying to boot one of my old computers with ubuntu Linux. But I am having no luck. I have recorded two videos, don't pay to much attention to the second one, I figured out how to change the setting so it boots the CD drive first, but again, no luck. I am starting to wonder if it could passable be that the CD drive dose not work. Here are the video's that I recorded. Sorry for the bad quality. Boot Videos *SickSoft.com is my website, I ensure you that the .zip folder dose not contain any virus's/spy ware* Also, dose any one know how to make a floppy boot, in case it is the CD drive that is failing? I still have the .ISO for ubuntu Linux. |

First, the stupid question: are you sure you burnt the iso to the cd and you didn't just copy it through explorer? Then, the second stupid question: are you sure you saved the settings when you set the cd-rom drive to be booted from before the hard drive? EDIT: oh, and if you can find a way to fit the Ubuntu iso onto a 1.44MB floppy disk I'll be amazed

I was using that boot CD that I ordered from ubuntu, via mail. (Have also tried my own downloaded one). Yes, I have tried changing the settings so the cd-rom is booted before the hard drive. |

Have you tried any other bootable CDs such as a Windows installation disk to see if they work? |

I have tried Windows XP, but it also completely ignores the cd. Dose any one know how to make a floppy boot? A friend suggested xubuntu. Do you think it would be worth a try? Update: I am out of blank cd-rom's. The only way I can get this to work is by floppy. :'( |

I'm the friend. Xubuntu has lower hardware needs, and since he's running a 95 system, I assumed that would be better. |
