Keep it Christmas Break, being politically correct isn't what it's cracked up to be. Breaking tradition just because it offends some people here and there is wrong. The offended people do have the ability to ignore other people and/or their comments. Even if it is Merry Christmas. |

I celebrate Christmas, but I've been to Hannukah parties and holiday parties, and Yule parties, etc. Anyways, I say merry Christmas, and I've rarely met people who get angry over it, but when they do I say look, I celebrate Christmas, take it as a blessing and move on our way. Then again, I'm not very PC. |

I'd be offended if it were "holiday break", the UK and US are Christian countries, and anyone of other ethnicities and religions need to take a step back and remember that we took them in, and they have no right to tell us what we can or can't celebrate. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. |

It's hard to not take a bias stance on this because you can relate Winter break to spring break, but since I was raised in the Christian school system, it seemed to be that Christmas fueled the break, not the fact that it's winter. Winter to me is a name used so parents who aren't Christian couldn't start a law suit, so public school's pretty much have to use the term winter break, and I can't argue with that. Think of the Jews! |

Why would "holiday break" be offensive? It's not saying that anyone has to stop the celebration of Christmas (which you seemed to imply, hence the question), it's just being open-minded to the idea that not everyone awaits the arrival of Santa Claus or celebrates the birth of the Christian Lord. |

instead of jumbling them altogether in a vain attempt to be politically correct, why not let everyone decide what break they want to call it? the founding fathers gave us religious freedom, not political correctness and "open mindedness". call it kwanza break--i dont care. ill call it christmas break. but, seeing as the vast majority of americans celebrate christmas, for simplicity, we'll just call it christmas break. if i was in israel and they called it hanukkah break, it wouldnt offend me. i am, after all, in a land where not everyone celebrates hanukkah, but the vast majority do. id just celebrate christmas and have a very nice time doing so. |

Considering the fact there are already breaks named after the season I will have to say it should be called Winter break, think about it we already have Fall break and Spring break. |

I just call it a break. Nothing special since it's just a break. I don't see why it should be called christmas break, or why it shouldn't be, or why it should be a big deal since it's just a break. |

I was not suggesting that it should be called "holiday break" or something other than "Christmas break" at all, I simply didn't follow the poster's logic as to why someone calling it "holiday break" would be offensive, and asked a question. Truly, let people call it what they want--I just don't see why anyone would be offended by any names for it, much less "holiday break", considering it does make sense. |

lugiatam, correct me if im wrong, but--the poster is saying that it would offend him to eliminate what has always been christmas break and turn it into holiday break for the sake of political correctness. |
