I lost two relatives already and am going to prematurely lose another one within the next decade - smoking already has screwed my life up enough for me to know better.

At Ross: my health class tried very hard to change our minds about smoking and drugs.
Exactly. They TRIED. You have to feel the conviction for something like that before it will really do any good. Just like I've seen kids quit smoking when someone close to them dies of lung cancer. And quit drinking when a friend dies by a drunk driver.
What I'm trying to say is, health class didn't teach us anything you didn't say. It just seems like you're trying to shove it down our throats and make yourself sound better because you don't smoke. I could be wrong, but you always speak like you are higher, and say who is right and who is wrong without stating that it's your opinion or anything.

Atheria, I hate to use you as an example concerning something so significant, but do you all see what I'm saying? Here is someone who has experienced first hand the effects of smoking. He's seen what it does to his life and those close to him. Now watch him, I bet he won't ever touch a cigarette.

Ross it pisses me off when you talk like you're so high above everyone else and you think you know everything and they don't? Don't you think these people have been educated in how smoking causes death sooner? I mean, really theres no need to keep saying it over and over, I'm not sure what you're trying to do but I'm sure they've heard it many a time before. I don't smoke, but I don't make the people that do feel like crap either.
No, some haven't come to the realization of what they are doing to themselves.
So you're telling me that some smokers(besides one nowhere near civilization) don't know it's bad for them, even though it makes them cough and they're taught in the ways of fire safety and to avoid smoke? And another thing...HEALTH CLASS. Nice try Ross.
Well if all these things teach you not to and you still do... I call that ignorance.
But if it's your bliss, enjoy - just keep the smoke out of my house.
EDIT: @ Ross, I don't mind.

Because I am right. Unless you want to deny all the scientific and sociological research that backs up my claims.

Scientific research eh? You are a Christian, so you don't believe the scientific research that goes into the Big Bang right?....I'm sure you see the point here, but I'm going to leave it alone unless someone makes a topic in brain juice, I'm sure I'm bound to be warned for disagreeing with staff. And BTW, you say you are right in Christian related topics too, when face it you're no T.D.Jakes and there are some things even he isn't sure about.
*leaves topic*
*comes back*
Oh, and I think it should be a good idea to make a topic in Brain juice about how reliable scientific research is against religion.

*comes back* I forgot my coat, it's cold outside.

Creationism v. The Theory of Evolution is a wholly different subject than smoking. What you posted has no relevance in this thread. :S

Man, I meant to leave the topic but i just had to come back...oh well.
The point I am making is that Ross always says he's right no matter what the situation is and it gets on my nerves sometimes...And I guess it does have a little relevance because it is in this very thread where he once again, states he is right. Not he thinks or he's pretty sure he's right, but he's RIGHT.

Uh, I embrace the big bang and think that's how we got here. I don't see why you are using that against me
Of course I post assertively. Just because 95% of the community tip toes around everyone else's feelings involving sensitive subjects such as religion, smoking, etc. doesn't mean I must do the same. I have a history of admitting when I am wrong, so I always retract statements and admit error when someone presents evidence against anything I have brought up.

I smoke, chew and spit. And enjoy every minute of death it brings me. When I'm 60, and have lung cancer- in my old age, I'll have one more reason to be old and miserable. I was a bit surprised, after joing the army, the number of people who smoke in such a physically demanding work environment. Why the hell is that? jesus fish.
