What do you think about dreams? (I randomly thought about this today and I thought I could get some opinions and thoughts from others)

I think they may symbolize something, I'm not sure what but some dreams could symbolize Desires or something you want. Like if you have a dream about love or riches, it's symbolizes want you want. Or if you have a dream of dying or a house on fire or etc it symbolizes fear. Dreams are so random too, but they do symbolize something.

I believe that most of the time, dreams are just based off the most common thoughts going through your head at the time, and your mood as well, however they sometimes seem to symbolize things that may happen in the future. (I usually don't remember the dreams I have, but when I do, something similar or even the exact same thing often ends up following after, which is why I say that.)

I tend to remember my dreams a lot.

But yes, it does have to do with your thoughts and your mood too. I remember I went to sleep after I played Kingdom Hearts and I had a dream exactly like it, but with me in it  . Anyways, I think they can symbolize things, many things to be exact.

Dreams mean a lot of things to me. It's your soul interacting in a different plane than the one we are on. I'm going to take some points from a very interesting book that I am reading.

When you fall asleep and leave this so called "reality" no matter how hard you try, you cannot keep the things from this plane of existence, the sights, sounds, smells, they all slip away as you sleep and as you come out of sleep, no matter how hard you try you cannot keep the feelings from the "dream world." Now, which is the dream and which is the reality? How do you know that this waking momoent isnt the dream and reality was the dream from last night?

Aristotle once wrote that: "Life is an imitation of art ... and art is an imitation of reality; therefore, life is an imitation of reality." The reality of dreams some might say.

So I dont know. Dreams hold a higher meaning to me, because it's our soul traveling to other places while our mind slumbers. Also, if you are able to picture someone's face clearly in a dream, or at least identify them, then more than likely, they dreampt about the same thing. Scary huh? I know I have asked someone that was in my dream what they drempt about and they werent exact, but they had many similar points.

Dreams are close to me too (hence this topic). I can believe that if you dream about them and can identify them they may be dreaming about you too. Like one time I dreampt about my Ex, first time I thought about him after we broke up, and I just had this strong feeling that he dreamed about me too.

Also I think if you have a dream about a future event that it may come true. It has happened to me before, I've dreampt about an event and it happens over time. It's pretty cool actually :)

I think that dreams are a combination of emotions and what you have been watching/looking at/reading. Although the dreams may not be from something that you have watched/looked at recently, it is a combination of things that have been going around in your mind.

Sometimes I have dreams with just a sentence of something that someone said the previous day, other times I have long dreams with characters/actors from movies that I have seen over and over again.

Sometimes I have dreams that do not have anything that I have watched/looked at/read before. Sometimes they are things that I like to imagine that have happened, just in my mind. Or things that I expect to happen, or occasionally they do happen.

Dreams are very interesting; sometimes they have meaning, sometimes they even effect the mood of your day. Sometimes they even effect what you do during the day. But most of the time I forget my dreams, which is good for some of them.

Yeah, they're mixed. Sometimes I just want to know how to understand my dream and find out what it means.

(I tend to think deep, it's just the way I am)

If I have a dream that somewhat makes sense, I also like trying to figure out what it could mean. But I think it is kind of fun to speculate and figure different things that a dream just might mean.

Yeah, I think it's fun to guess what it might mean. It makes me think of a lot of things and sometimes it gives me a new perspective on different things.

I don't really ever dream, unless I'm going through a really emotional time in my life. Then those dreams are about things that I stand to lose by making the wrong choice. Once I've had that dream I won't be able to sleep until I've sorted the situation out. So they're more nightmares. I thrash around, hit, and wake up covered in sweat. For me they are a wake up call, telling me that the situation is hurting my in some way and that I need to sort it soon, otherwise I'll break down. These are the only situations I've ever "dreamed" in.

However, apparently, a number of researchers have shown that dreams help you. "Some studies show the importance of dreaming and its role in our well-being and health. Some researchers believe that dreams help us tackle stress. It is clear that dreaming help recharge the mind and revitalize the body. " (--DreamMoods.com)

I guess it depends on who you are and whats happening in your life for dreams to happen and/or affect you.

Dreams.

*sighs*

Was that melodramatic enough for you? XD

No, really. My opinion is that dreams are an output for your day's emotions, including joy, frustration, anger, happiness, and the ocational touch of fright. I've noticed my dreams often include phrases/thoughts and etc. from things I have experienced, whether they are in my immediate or distant past. A dream may also entail people who have effected my life in negative or positive ways, and either reversing their roles or keeping it is one of the wierd things my dream does. I don't believe the people who say they can connect to the dead and tell the past and future in dreams. For god's sake--those people hardly remember what they dreamt of in the morning, so it is very hard to believe. Dreams are also sometimes complex illusions that the mind creates to fill a loss in memory or life in general--e.g. you'll have a dream of a relative you recently lost, or your dream will explain something wierd that happened to you in life.

Sometimes, my dreams take on random aspects, that when analyzed, relate to things that may have happened to me years and years ago, yet forgotten until that moment. These aforementioned events should have taken an impact on my memory, yet they've past by, just disappearing under the surface of my subconcious thoughts, effecting my decisions without me ever noticing. I find that quite cool when I've discovered them.

Another interesting demeanor of dreams is their multifaceted attributes of layered meanings speckled with nuances, with each of the aforementioned layers having different connotations, and whether they be negative or positive, these layers have sub levels and those sub levels have their own sub levels creating a complex arborial-like system which closely resembles my life itself. An example of this happening would be different events and the subconcious knowledge of what caused them. This knowledge will never arise to the surface, and remains subjective to the dream itself, ownly showing if the dream pertains to that condition of lifestyle, such as a specific event. Dreams are very conditional.

Those are my thoughts on dreams. ^_^

Actually, it's been proven that we dream every night, we just dont remember them most of the time. Also, it's been speculated that we have thousands of dreams a night, or that our dreams can morph from one thing to another and then tie together in the "end." So, just because you dont remember it, doesnt mean that you didnt dream that night.

I think it's really awesome that your dreams tell you that something is wrong with your life. Almost like your mind knowing that something you are doing could turn out bad and telling you via your dreams to do something about it.

I wish the kind of dreams that tell when something bad is happening and how to fix it would happen more. It would really help me in life, but I'm happy with the dreams I've been getting lately.

To be honest, I don't think I have had a true nightmare, I've had scary dreams but nothing that symbolizes true fear. I probably just jinxed myself though <_<

Have you ever had those dreams where you have a really good dream and it stops during the middle of a good part? Then you try to go back to sleep and it either goes back to the same part or you have a completely different dream? Those dreams are always good, unless it's a nightmare.
