Whenever I try to access my A drive, I get this message: 'A:\ is not accessible. The device is not ready.' and, whenever I try to make a startup disk through Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Startup Disk > Create Disk, I get a message saying 'Drive A is not a floppy disk drive or is mapped to a network drive. Setup cannot create a startup disk.' Yes, I have a floppy disk in my A drive. Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks :).

Do you have a virus scanner? I have no idea why it would do that, can you read from the A: and put files on it?

It means "can you look at the things already there and put new things on it?" I think

Indeed. Put a diskette in and see if you can read it from My Computer > A:

and can you save files to it?

Open up my computer (the icon, not the tower) and click on the A: drive.

I did, it says A:\ is not accessible. The device is not ready. It says that with and without a floppy disk in it.

Well, I can access it, but what do I do next?

Reinstall your drivers. If your A drive isn't working in the Device Manager than reinstall the drivers.

Reinstall your drivers. If your A drive isn't working in the Device Manager than reinstall the drivers.

You don't reinstall drivers for a floppy drive... that's all native...

Try another floppy disk, or, when inserting a disk, right click the A: and try to format it (NOT quick format).
