I just learned a bunch of new information in this topic. I hope nothing like that happens to me because I'm with a 13 year old and I am 15 (Just about the same age difference) But I have heard of a 10 year old getting pregnant from a 15 year old. But it's unlear whether or not it was rape or just "love." I really don't like the girls who are 11 and are with a 16 year old and stuff, it's not right really, your in 6-7th grade and he's in the 10th grade or 9th.

Anyway, good luck on your friends situation and hope things go good for her no matter what way it turns.

While some teenage girls don't 'show' when they're pregnant, it's likely she will, and her parents would appreciate her fessing up and asking for help rather than finding out the conventional way.

She *might* be pregnant? She needs to take a test. A reliable test, and then perhaps talk to her doctor or a family planning counsillor if she is still too scared to talk to her parents.

Of course, she might not be. Periods can be so precise and on time (i.e you know what day it is every time), but then it can also be completely out of whack because of hormones. People can go for months without a period. I know I have, and I've never had sex so I knew I wasn't pregnant. Stress can both bring periods on early and delay them, depending on the person. Therefore "omg I'm late" isn't as accurate as "It's blue/pink :|" on a reliable pregnancy test.

So... first she needs to find out whether she is or not, then she either needs to learn from this experience and do the mature thing and use protection, or she has a baby to start thinking about, and parents that need talking to.

It said in the first post that they used protection. :/

Also, even using protection, you can still get pregnant,

1.) So is it illegal if the boy is 17 and the girl is 15?

Depends on where you live.

2.) Can the boy get sued?

Sued? No. Prosecuted for statutory rape? Possibly - again, depends on where you live.

3.) How would she confront her parents/the boy?

Like Nicola said, she should first take a pregnancy case so that she can stop worrying about the 'if's and focus on planning out a future (if she is indeed pregnant), either with a counselor or with her parents. Her parents need to be told, straight up, without lying, and probably with a friend for support. Some parents actually /would/ do violent things in the OMGWTF stage and it's always best for her to have someone to talk to about it afterwards.

The boy's a different story. If she's pregnant, and he's smart, he'll pay child support. But given the general nature of their 'relationship', she might actually have to take him to court to force him to pay child support.

4.) What should she do in this case if she were to have the baby?

If she plans to keep the child, she needs (not should, needs) to stay in school, at least till she's done with high school. As hard as it seems, it's important that she does so that she can at least provide for her baby once they're out in the real world. She's gotta keep up with the medical stuff for the baby, and she needs to make damn sure she gets those child support payments.

Otherwise, she needs to get the adoption papers. There's not much else you can do.

EDIT// To the person majoring in criminal justice, statutory rape laws differ from state to state (in the US, at least).

It wasn't illegal, and he really can't be sued be cause she agreed to it, if he was 18 though then yes to both.

It was illegal. The age of consent in his state (Judging the location by his profile) is 17. That's statutory rape and carries a nice sentence, as well as a spot on the sex offender registry for life. Your brother's friend just ruined his life.

He's required to support his child until its 18th birthday, even if he doesnt sign as the father on the birth certificate. He's required to pay for the child because he's responsible. When you get with a girl, you made an adult decision and you have to live with the consequences.

There's always being able to put up for adoption. Many couples are looking for a child.

By the way, once you're pregnant, you're automatically emancipated. This means that she can go to the doctor without her parents knowing. The doctors cant disclose anything without her consent.

My best advice: See a doctor.

Technically, he'd spend a year in prison, at max, because it falls under the charge of criminal sexual abuse/statutory rape in Illinois. Then again, she doesn't have to bring charges, but you never know.

Well I'm speaking on behalf of the justice system in Connecticut since that's where I'll be practicing.

Actually, she's not required to. Its called statutory rape because the victim doesn't have to be complaining. If the police find out that he slept with her, he'd be facing a minimum of a year in prison.

Probaly.

Nice spam.

But yeah, because it's a criminal offense, the girl (in this case, her parents because she is a minor) can choose to decide whether or not to press charges.

Charges are automatically brought, CJ. There is no choice. Its the same thing as child pornography, endangering the welfare of a child. No complaining victim is required.

Then it must be different if the girl is over the age of 16, correct? Because at that point she can choose whether or not to press charges, right?
