Personally I wouldn't resort to research or such. You may be too young to understand love in that context but look to your heart; what does it tell you? A love poem needn't be all mushy, it can be heart breaking or it can be about confusion, a lack of understanding, or - God forbid - about a person's actual opinion on love. Poetry and writing are about self-expression. I've written countless short stories based on issues I have no experience with; it's all about your own perception, even if you're unsure or without experience. It all counts: a poem reflects the composer's personality and thoughts.

Listen to some lovesongs and voila you're inspired. I suggest anything of Misery Loves Comedy by Louis Logic and JJ Brown. In particular The Great Divide and A Perfect Circle Introducing Marisa Croce are great.
