I agree with what most said above, that 101 years seems a bit much.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but could I see the source of it? Not doubting you or anything, I just think 101 years seems a bit... much?

Oh no problem, I should have seen that coming.

Woah :o I just looked on Google, and saw something that said the average prison term for a murder is 29 years. Harsh O_o

Murder doesn't flood your inbox. :haha:

Good point, his sentence was well deserved :@

Well, tell me this. If this happend to you, and you had almost no computer experience at all, what would you want? Say that you just got your first computer, and you got internet along with it. You don't currently know that AOL is not needed and you don't realize how big of scam AOL is. So, when you get a message notifying you that your hard earned money is not enough, or your AOL account isn't completely verified, therefore being "open to phishers", your eyes begin to open and you suddenly realize that this internet isn't as safe as you had thought...

So you decide to stay on the safe side, and enter your info, hoping for a legitimate solution to this problem, only to find that $100's of dollars are being transferred from your credit card or checking account to an unknown source. You notify AOL and it doesn't end. AOL notifies you of what has just happend to you and reccomends to you that you need to close your checking or credit card account. You immediately go to the bank and try to close the account. You eventually find out that $10,000+ dollars have been transferred from your account to an unknown source.

Now, tell me you wouldn't want the person who did this to you to suffer for what he/she has done. I don't know about you but I'd want that person to stay in jail for the rest of their life!

No, I'd just rather have that person have no access to the internet

Woah, 101 years for spam? I agree it should be quite alot for stealing money from innocents, but 101 YEARS? Too much in my opinion. You don't even get that for murder, and murder is worse than spamming.

The laws are seriously messed up.

101 years isn't much at all when you people understand the freaking law.

He was convicted of x number of charges, which carries a possible sentence of z years. x times z = 101. Not complicated.

101 years huh? That's kind of odd, couldn't they have just made it an even hundred? He's not gonna live to see the end of either of them.

But seriously, 101 years is a little steep. I think 10 would have been fine, considering anyone that gave him money/personal information, must have been a completely f***ing idiot.

I once bought something from bestbuy, and a day latter got an email from bestbuy.com confirming a purchase. I thought it was related to my purchase, of course it was spam with a virus in it which ruined my computer. It also ended up costing me some money. So I am happy he got 100+ years and I hope he rots and dies in jail because people like him will never contribute to society in a positive way, and harms plenty of peoples life.

Yeah, but ten murders = 290

so one spam violation is probably 10 years or something, but this guy did 10

Of course it's not...It's only your whole life, no biggie. :ermm:

101 is ******* pathetic. I could understand 10 because of fraud, but 101 is just taking the piss. Couldn't they just of had 100? Why take the piss with 101?

You have to remember. He's committed multiple offenses of the crime which carries a certain amount of years per offense. Also, he "hacked" into accounts to spam. This is criminal trespass, multiplied by the amount of accounts he compromised.

I can see how it added up to 101 years. Doesn't surprise me and is certainly a good deterrent.
