I once bought something from bestbuy, and a day latter got an email from bestbuy.com confirming a purchase. I thought it was related to my purchase, of course it was spam with a virus in it which ruined my computer. It also ended up costing me some money. So I am happy he got 100+ years and I hope he rots and dies in jail because people like him will never contribute to society in a positive way, and harms plenty of peoples life.

You have to remember. He's committed multiple offenses of the crime which carries a certain amount of years per offense. Also, he "hacked" into accounts to spam. This is criminal trespass, multiplied by the amount of accounts he compromised.

I can see how it added up to 101 years. Doesn't surprise me and is certainly a good deterrent.

Is that a bigger crime than murdering someone?

Stealing thousands of peoples personal information?

I'd say so.

I would have thought removing his internet access indefinitely, a sentence of 10 years and having to pay double the money he stole from those people back would suffice :|

101 years isn't much at all when you people understand the freaking law.

He was convicted of x number of charges, which carries a possible sentence of z years. x times z = 101. Not complicated.

Goodin is being convicted of spam, and ten other counts that include wire fraud and unauthorized access to AOL accounts and company trademarks for illegal purposes. He is to be sentenced on June 11th of 2007 and faces up to 101 years in prison.

No one seems to realize that sentences stack - he didn't get 101 years for just one thing. That's 11 counts he was convicted on.

Not to mention that he HASN'T BEEN SENTENCED YET. He hasn't even got 101 years yet - it only says that he might get 'up to 101 years'. Woot, sensationalizing!

No, but if i killed 25 people you want me charged with only one count of murder? If you want this guy to only do 3 years, fine. But when someone kills 25 people, I'm sure you'd be wanting there to be consecutive sentencing.

The law is simple. If you set a precedent (such as letting this guy get off with one count), it applies to all.(Including your murderers)

Well, he deserves prison time, but I don't think he should get 101 years.

101? What a random number...
