First off i cant be held responsible for anything you do that can mess your computer up with this program as it says in the computing and technology forum information because messing with partitions can mess your system up so before you start i would suggest reading things about how to resize, move, create, or delete partitions. ![]() Anyway, the only Partitioner i had every heard of before was Norton Partition Magic but you have to pay for that. A new program called GParted (Gnome Parted) is a new Partition app that does just about everything Partition Magic would do. Its originally based to be used with linux partitions and is intended to be but you can run it with basically any type, even ntfs (windows). This is pretty nice. A full list of features can be found here. To download this program in a file or even a live CD format to burn look here. I hope this helps people that were having problems with partitions as was I but remember to read up information on how to go about partitioning your drives because this can mess up your computer. |

GParted's not new... O_o And a warning to everyone, make sure you know what you're doing before you attempt to use this, it's not as easy to use as windows-based partition managers. |

Telling your harddrive that you want to set x-amount of storage for one type of data and y-amount for the second... typical of people trying to dual boot multiple operating systems. |

I remember the first time I was so f*cking lucky, I just changed random values and it let me dual-boot. The second time wasn't so pretty, and now I have a wonderful Alienware computer sitting downstairs with a completely fried HD (or it seems like it :/) |

lol i tried gparted....didn't work on my computer, something about the server (?) i had to use RIP...lol then u really have to know what your doing, and @ first i thought i screwed everthing up... a suggestion to all: Don't delete (or change points) of hidden partitions...a lot of new computer companies (especially laptop) put in hidden FAT 32 or 95 partitions for backup and if u change them it wont boot g parted is nice, if it works on your computer, its got a graphical interface so you dont have to know any commands...but like said before, you really have to be careful what you do...your messing with the brain of your computer, you wouldn't want to take a stick and scramble it |
