Did you honestly read my post? America is a leading country in environmental technology. We're helping. Your statement is not the truth. We're doing all we can. Just because we have money and people does not mean we can just turn on the 'stop global warming' button. You really need to study this more. We have several hundred programs and companies that are contributing to environmentally friendly machines and buildings, along with thousands of other organizations helping out. It is impossible to just 'stop' producing carbon. We have, along with thousands of other countries, including those in Europe, factories and products that add to pollution. You can't shut down every single building in the nation and go around making them environmentally friendly in a second. But we're taking the steps we need to help out the cause. This all starting in the 1700s. We had no clue to global warming back then. It had started in England, anyways. It then spread to America, and the rest of the WORLD. If you blame us, you blame the world, because we're doing nearly more than ANYONE to help out our planet. So please, I beg of someone, to read my posts and actually think about it. Don't go all 'america suckz cuz we dun do nothing'. We do. Wake up. |

Well, I only read the first three posts because I've heard all I wish to about Global Warming in the...global warming thread. If someone could save the world by reading/signing a petition, then of course you could do it. But your petition has an impossibly small chance in being heard by anyone except those reading this topic and those people at your school because there are all the advocates for Global Warming out there, such as Al Gore. Anyway, yeah we have a few lightbulbs that are the new ones. They are probably the worst lighting I have ever had in my room. When I turn them on, and they have been off for more than 30 minutes they take awhile to "warm up", which is absolutley useless if I'm not going to be in the room for more than 10 minutes. Signing the petition won't do anything, because there isn't anything to help. Except maybe your monthly electric bills, which is the only reason we actually put up with these light bulbs. Global Warming is just a natural heating cycle, its been happening for thousands of years, and it will continue to happen for thousands of years. Our atmosphere isn't going to vanish*, the ice caps are not going to melt unnaturally fast* and kill us all. If you'd like to know my backing on this, go watch the video I posted on this topic in the Global Warming Brain Juice topic. *'s: Not going to happen in 10-20 years. Rawr. |

It's too late. There's nothing we can do to reverse global warming, and we'll all die slowly and painfully within 5 years. |

Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and the USA all have a larger population than that on their own, and the Philippines are only half a million off that number. ![]() The world had just over 6 billion people in 2000, and probably about 6.5 billion now. ( Source, www.infoplease.com ) --- Anyway, idk999, I can see where you are coming from, yet I feel that your views are a bit extreme. The world isn't just suddenly going to end in 5-10 years. If your theory is correct meaning the world will end because of global warming, I can't see that happening for thousands of years. I do feel that we should be trying to protect the environment a bit more, but from reading through this topic it seems that quite a lot is already being done. Howver, developing countries such as China and India aren't simply going to stop developing because of the possibility that the world will blow up in a couple of hundred thousand years, are they? Although they are using a lot of fuel at the moment, and creating a lot of pollution, they are just going through the same as what the industrialised countries such as the US, the UK and others. Is it fair to deny them the opportunity to make their country successful by doing the same things that we were in the 19th century? That would be slightly hypocritical. But don't let me give them impression that I think that it is all countries such as China and India, we are all in this together and we are all putting excessive carbon emissions into the atmosphere, and therefore we are all to blame to a certain extent. EDIT: That has got to be the longest post outside of the sports forum that I have made in quite a while.

You may be right. We are killing the planet, and we won't do anything to solve the problem, which is... You guessed it, OvErPoPuLaTiOn
Um... Yes, we have money, fortune, wealth, technology that almost rivals Japan's, and yes, we've got women! But the fact is is that (the representatives for us) are not fat, lazy slobs (but the rest of us are *raises hand*) and we are doing a lot. We are the leading developers in wind and solar technologies. We have and are placing more strict parameters on greenhouse gas emissions from refineries, cars, and factories. China is only slightly like America (though it is not really, we are a superpower and have been, it is only developing in terms of exports and industry) in the way that you labeled America as (which is total B.S.)!!! China is building about one coal plant every few months, and are burning more and more fossil fuels everyday at an increasing rate. I guess that I shouldn't flame you for insulting America, but rather give a quote... "The reason why 2/3rds of the world hates America is because America doesn't realize 2/3rds of the worlds hates them!" But, anyway, get your freaking facts straight. There are over 6 billion people in the world, China alone having 1 billion, and America alone having 300 million, over 3 times what you say the world has. |

'Kay... so I've angered a few people but I am right about a few things...so don't go around and yelling "j00r rawng!!!111" and I was only basing a few stuff on my mind. So what? The world is dying slowly since we heard about Global Warning... and that's were the reality of death really hits home. I'm sure NASA will think of something *fingers crossed* ![]() |

China is more like the U.S. than you think.
You're an idiot.
I'm glad someone is finally taking it upon themselves to speak on behalf of all the Americans - and the world for that fact - with this insightful statement.
I want to vote for you as President of da World.
Get em' tiger.

The world was dying anyway, and besides, global warming is a cycle. It's just worse this time. What in the world would NASA do? Even if we could travel to somewhere like Mars and make it habitable, we'd never be able to transfer even a million people without it costing quadrillions of dollars. And please, please, will you all stop capitalizing 'global warming'? It's a condition of the Earth, not the name of a person or anything. |

If the American people had understood that CO2 emissions and an increase in temperature go hand in hand, one hundred years ago, we might not be in the same position we are now. But we do know now, and it's vital that we make changes. India and China will bend to the trend of improving their environmental standards when they come to grips with the fact that the economical damages of not cutting greenhouses gases are far greater then the costs of fixing the problem. However, China, like Europe have much higher gasoline prices then America, and therefore, let out less greenhouses gases then we do. Global Warming isn't a matter of life and death, in the sense that the human race will be wiped off the charts. But instead, everything that causes human suffering will be taken to a new level. Storms, droughts, floods, disease, will all become more common and more violent. As water levels increase, the loss of infrastructure will cost the world billions. That is the reality of the situation. |
