The internet is a system, the system is designed to be held by the people. There will always be the good and bad side. We cannot stop this from happening, as greed, power, and an unlimited of other "bad" things haunt humanity. What people view/create on the web is totally up to them. This is why the internet is a true marvel. So what if there's some bad things out there? By using the internet, you are doing so by the disclaimer that whatever you view was by choice, there's no force involved. If you don't want the internet, you don't have to have it. If you want it, but only want to view a number of "safe" things, you can also do that. The internet has truely become the only (I'm thinking of a word that means paradise inside a city, or land. I can't remember the word though, somone help. I should describe it as the ultimate place to live). We are ultimatly free and we should always be that way. Yes, there is Copyright laws, and such, but they're so easy to get around. The internet is also the most prevalent social act we will ever see in our lifetime. I can walk into school tomarrow and say that I just chatted with someone from the U.K., and no one will think it out of the ordinary. The internet lets people open up, without any bias. Since you ultimatly choose how much information to give out, there is no way people can be biased with things like sterotypes and raccism if you don't choose to be so. Think in real life, if you were 13 (the legal COPPA age). Not many 18 year olds would listen to a word that you had to say. But if no one can tell your age, then they have no way to decide to listen to you our not. I love the internet <3 |

The internet really is the wave of the future. Yes, I think a lot of what we know that is able to will become virtual. Obviously, we will still have to do many things in person, but, for convenience's sake, I think many things will be proffered on the internet. Look at all of the extremely fast growing successful businesses of the past 20-30 years. The ones that top my mind are Microsoft, Dell, Google, Ebay, etc... All because of the internet... For everything bad thing there is, there is probably a good advantage. I mean, bad people always find ways to abuse good things. Anything can be used in a negative way, but at least there is the potential for the positive. So, yes, there are some negatives to the internet, but, it is my belief that the benefits far outweigh any of that. The internet is simply, genius. |

This is an unfair poll. You're asking it on the internet. Of course everyone's going to give the interweb two thumbs up. |

ya lol, just a bit biased xD Personally I think the internet is good, with a lot of bad on it. If the internet were somehow controlled better to get rid of all the crap, it would be a lot better. Also, I think a lot of what goes on on the internet is really scary. |

I disagree entirely. I think that nothing on the internet should be controlled. I heart Net Neutrality. PS: Not counting child porn sites though, those should be shut down. |

Ditto. Net Neutrality for the win! (And, yes, down with the child porn, but that is beyond the internet. The internet is only a tool for pedophiles. Pedophiles will be pedophiles with or without the internet. It's just a nice medium for them to converse and share their "stuff".) |

Of course it is a good idea, it's a way for people to share ideas, theories, thoughts, and information in a way never possible before. I need not say more :o |

Well yeah, that's what I mean, to get rid of like, child porn, and to like, have it so a website can get a certificate to verify that it has accurate information, for say students doing a research project, there are so many websites with wrong or misleading information, it would be nice to have a way to have all the accurate stuff with some sort of way to easier find, if you know what I mean. |
