Well,

It seems that the prices for gas have soared once again...

In school, we were watching a video on electric car history and development. GM corporation recently made a new program called the "EV" program which obviously stands for electric vehicle... but what suprised me was this: Cars were designed and made, and then, after selling them to willing buyers, they say: "Oh well there isn't a demand to meet our costs" and the buyers were told to either take the car back, or GM was going to repo it" The reason? Oil companies, Government, Car Companies, Laws, Etc....

Only 81 people protested to keep the cars on the market... and why? the car was obviously better than our gas-guzzling cars of today, and more efficient. No emissions, 5-10minute charge for up to 300 miles = much like a tank of gas, and above all: 0-60 in alittle over 3 seconds... because of no weight like the traditional engine...

But anyway, Gas prices are getting higher, and they will keep getting higher until we do something about it... When the time comes, would you?

I'll be the one laughing my ass off. Seriously. Theres really no debate to be held here. We need to conserve oil, not wait for the supply to be so alarmingly low that we have to force the issue. It shouldn't be a forced issue. We should all be working toward a sensible alternative fuel.

Humanity needs to get it's act together.

You my friend, are correct.

I actually just had to compile a presentation about this subject for my final project, some may know it as Senior Exit. We don't have a lot more time left until we are out of oil all together. Statistics show that if we continue to consume oil at the same rate as we are today, our current oil reserves will be depleted in aproximitly 50 years. This doesn't give us a whole lot of time to find an alternate source of energy. If we wait until we run out, I cannot imagine the chaos that would follow due to the fact that energy is the one thing that single handedly runs today's society.. and without it we won't have much of a society.

The way I see it, a person could attempt to start a revolt against the gas & oil companies. The revolt might last for a while, and eventually die off. We all know what Gas companies are capable of doing, and what they will do. IMO, all gas & oil companies won't reduce their prices. I hate to have a pessimistic view but why start a small revolt that might only last about 3 weeks at the most?

I wouldn't personally change to an electric car, unless gas prices went upwards of like $5 a gallon. Then, I would switch to a much more efficient motorcyle, and if things progressed worse, I might consider switching to an electric vehicle.

Now where's that 200+ mph electric car I heard about?

Well, the thing is, our society is soo stupid at the moment, they wont research other fuels because we have all the oil we need right now, but year after year, drillers come up with less and less, and drilling's costing more, and in turn, Oil is costing more... but what does the government care? they're rich!

Why should we conserve it? I'm going to use as much oil as possible and I'm going to have fun doing it. The oil will eventually run out, why stretch it out? I think we as a society would be a whole lot happier if people like you would just lay off the comments like that. Do you think anyone is going to listen anyway? No, the majority of the public will continue what they're doing because we like it this way. When the time comes for a change, it will happen, but that's still a couple decades off.

I'm getting a gas car this year, and hopefully upgrading to a hybrid once I get college paid for.

I'll probably end up moving to a more fuel-efficient country / buy a hybrid.

There are alternatives already being tested and a few I believe have been successful but the cost for such a vehicle is too high for any consumer to be able to afford it without already adding to the other problems they have. I think that some of the current alternatives also have some major drawbacks like the hydro-electric car, the solar powered car, and the battery car.

Funny thing is, Those alternatives wont come until it's too late... Oil is going to diminish on and on until there is no more...
