A year or more ago, the Discover Channel (or History Channel, can't remember) aired a special documentary on dragons, in which a dragon's preserved carcass was discovered and examined.

Many people use this to justify the existence of real dragons.

IT WAS ALL SPECULATION! That documentary was merely a show that presented what dragons might look like, what their lives might be like, and the hypothetical mechanics of their flight and fire breath. It is not truth!
If a dragon's carcass was actually found, it would have been on the news!
Thank you.

:P My science teacher last year showed us that video telling us about how everyone, after seeing the video, went out telling their friends how dragons were real, etc.

You'd be surprised, and besides, there is a strong possibility there were once dragon-like lizards. [ Not fire breathing, just perhaps flying reptiles ]. Nearly every ancient cultures tells of dragons.

I find it rather ironic that someone named "Infernoduelist" feels strongly enough about the non-existance of dragon to actually make a topic about it...

Komodo Dragons are very large reptiles. They don't fly like the dragons in novels or films.

There is no proof that dragons never exisited... So why should someone be immature if they do believe in dragons. Thats like way back when people that the Earth was in the center when it was really the sun. I bet people then thought those who thought the sun was in the center were immature and stupid, so its the pretty much the same concept.

Dragons in culture have all been associated with evil and the unknown. When the Pagan cultures clashed with Christianity, the lines between their beliefs blurred, and dragons became the embodiment of demonic things. There were flying reptiles (pterasaurs) during the Paleozoic Era (Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. You know, dinosaurs). It is quite odd that every culture on the earth that ever existed have had some dragon or another (farthest back is about 6000 B.C., in the Iraq portion of Mesopotamia).

The Chinese dragon (a flying or swimming serpent, usually with long, curling whiskers, sometimes not having wings) is though to have been made when dinosaur fossils were found, thought to be the recently-made remains (a misconception) of some giant creature.

Also, you must look at some of the interpretations of weather that people of the ancient world could have had. Wind? Breathing or wing-beating of a monster. Rain? Its drool. Lightning? It causes fires, so the connection is apparent.

Also, I go by infernoduelist because I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh! and ran a burn deck. Don't ask, and don't flame me *snickers at pun*.
